You can get away with only replacing the faulty valve, but generally, if one has gone, the other is not far behind it. Depends if your budget will allow you to replace one, or both My D3 Build Thread

Hi all,
I have a Disco 3 06 plate which has just started to have the issue described throughout this thread i.e. no power when pulling away. Literally just started today. Is this blanking of the EGR valves on option for my model? And if so, how difficult is it to do?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I recently experienced the same issue but all disappeared after I had the timing belt with oil pump and water pump done.

Hmm, interesting that you say that. I have had a squeaky 'fan belt' type noise for the last couple of weeks and I am at about 107k on the mileage which I believe is around the time I would be due a timing belt change. Could this be the cause?
Oh, and might I ask how much it cost to get this work done? I would probably tackle the blanking kit myself but the timing belt? A bit too much methinks.

Could be. I remember it all started with the fan belt related noise as well and I had to change the fan belt as well as the pulley but I think you should have it checked out first before jumping to conclusions.
I believe most dealers would do a free auto check.

To be honest, I should probably get the timing belts replaced anyway as past the 105k mileage and several years past the 7 years recommendation. Did you get both the front and rear belts changes and how much did it set you back for the whole job?
Also can anyone recommend somewhere for this? I'm in Bromley, Kent which is within the M25 but will travel to get it done if I can get done same day.

Geoff sorted me out- changed both front & rear belts. Send him a PM, He's one of the site sponsors and also live in Kent.
