Finally I have a reason to post... |
|
I have an '06 Disco TDV6 (2.7), the bog standard model. Bought it just over a year ago as a family car with 31k on the clock. Today its at 37k... It does not get heavy use.
About two or three weeks ago I noticed a knocking sound coming from what appeared to be the front nearside when going up speed bumps. This has become more noticeable and last week, while on holiday, we travelled down a rough road and the steering started to feel strange and the knocking sound appeared on virtually every significant bump we drove over. I looked at the wheel for any clues of a leaking shock or other obvious problem and noticed that the tyre on the front nearside was wearing unevenly - the outer edge was significantly worn compared to the inner edge.
So something is wrong...
I dont really want to take it to my main dealer - I know how they can magically turn a fixeable problem into a new mortgage. Can anyone recommend a good independent LandRover specialist in the Leicestershire area who can help diagnose and fix this problem without the need for me to sell one of my kids?
Many thanks in advance.
Mak.

could be Anti roll bar bushes.
do search on +front +ARB or suspension bushes.
ARB bushes are easy to change, suspension bushes a bit more difficult Duncan

Makalu,
Have the same problem....changed allmost evertything that could be changed....
The only thing that I still have to try are the lower wishbones.
So if I can give you an advise, start with those instead of the inner trackball rods, spacers, steeringrack, Antirollbar bushings etc.
At the sound of your problem it is exactly the same as in my car.
Try to break vrey brusque, I mean a cold hard break, very short......my guess is that you wil hear that same knock.
You will also notice that it occurs more often or harder when applying breaks on oneven ground.
So --> Lower wishbones first.....then the rest....
