Hi
Just recently and intermittently getting worse is a lack of power. It happens now and then, seems to happen more when under load like a slight hill. Along with the lack of power comes a noise, it's a drumming/rumbling sound from the engine area. What I have found though, if you lift off the throttle and down again the noise goes and power resumes. It also happens a few times in succession, then nothing for a while.
The above description sounds bad, it's not. A passenger for instance wouldn't notice it! Also it doesn't really affect driving too much as it doesn't last long when it happens, and a quick lift off throttle cures it.
Car is 06 diesel auto (58,000). Serviced last month at dealer. Av fuel on gauge 28.4 ish, doesn't change much from that! Average fuel at station last 3 were 29, 27 & 27 to the gallon!
I know what I'm thinking it might be, a couple of blanking plates would fix maybe?....however, those more technically minded on here might advise different. One last thing I'm off on hols soon, taking the car so would like to solve before then....I wish lol
