Hi
My dad and I are looking into replacing the sump guard/bash plate with an after market one. What is available and what would you guys recommend?
I believe that FR and Mantec is available, any other worth considering.
Any specific thing we need to take in consideration?

Whichever one you choose, make sure it has a way for the air to pass thru intercooler

Hi Jacques,
If you are also considering an ARB bar, it comes with a sump guard.

Hi Baben
Do you have a guard? What brand?
The FR product looks like it's got enough ventilation holes for the IC. You are familiar with their products, is this a good choice, as the pricing is also good. 2007 TDV6 SE auto (ex Write off)

Thanks Baben, very interesting.Since 2007 the FR guard became available.Has someone got experiance of this guard,as it seems cheaper than the Mantec product, and is available in Tzaneen.I don't want to order it and then find it is not up to the job.
Thanks

I have seen the FR product up close, and it looks the same thickness as the one fitted to my vehicle - it's 10 or 12mm I think. Whether it fits as well etc. I can't say

The Mantec non-winch plate fits very well and looks great, easy to fit. I have one and very happy. BRS brought it in and they sent it down to CT.
The FR plate is not such a snug fit, fitted by Safari Centre for a friend, but it does the job well and is probably more easily available ...

Hi, I can recommend the RASTA 4x4 underbody kit with one provision.
Use proper hex-bolts rather than the Allen Key bolts supplied with the kit.
It fits very easily and has protection included for the exsposed sides of the radiator
take a look at their website: http://www.rasta4x4.com/ProductsByModele194.html?Model=7 Mike

I saw the Devon 4x4 guard at Billing, it is a single piece and does not have any access points for removing sump plug, accessing transfer and gear box level and drain plugs unlike the Rasta 4X4 kit.
The Rasta 4X4 kit is a 3 piece underbody kit with the radiator side protectors, it is pricey however. Mine has done 25,000 miles off road in the past 2 years and looks as good as new Mike
