There is always a chance it that it didn't suffer severe damage if you were only traveling at very low speed, mine failed in my driveway and i was able to repair it for not much more than the timing belt kit cost. You will only know after a top end strip down to assess the condition, as such it is only worth buying as a project or re-powering.

Hi Guy's hope you can help, I put the timing belt on with out loosing the bolts on the camshaft pulleys. I had a issue with tensioner bolt. Pulled the tensioner off to replaced the bolt.
Decided to do the correct process and went to loosen the camshaft pulley bolts, and not realizing you need to hold the camshaft in place, the right hand one (facing the the motor) moved when I undid one of the bolts. Is there a procedure to put the camshaft back in the correct place. Feels like it fell of the top of a cam lobe.

Did you not have the locking pins in place
I take it your are loosening the three bolts on each pulley, you just need to turn the cam and fit the timing pins.
The timing pins hold the camshaft in the correct place not the pulleys, so as long as you have the cam pins and the crank locking pin in place you should be fine.
Just turn both cam pulleys all the way clockwise, fit the belt adjust the tensioner and tighten all the bolts before removing the locking pins.Andrew

Hi I thought I had the pins in correctly but apparently i didn't and the cam moved. The left side cam is still in timed to the crank but the right cam is no longer in the correct position.
I will need to find the correct relation of the crank to the cams and get the the timing all lined up.
Put it all back to what I though the correct and turned the engine over to get the pins in the correctly and could feel the piston hitting the valve. Doom and gloom.
Thanks for the feed back, looks like I will need to go off the the Peugeot forms as the engine is a
2.7 HDi turbo in a Peugeot 407.
You DISCO guys actually work on your vehicles so I thought I would ask here as the Peugeot groups didn't look like they had much info on this engine and belt changes.

If it’s only a bit out you should be able to sort.
Put others back to locking
Remove belt
Move to problem cam slightly
Lock it
Put belt on
Hand crank again to test for clashes

Did you remove the rear crank locking pin or just pull it back a bit?
I did this the first time a did a belt on one of these engines, i thought i would just pull it back enough to spin the engine over twice and then push it back in to check the timing again.
When i turned the engine it went so far before hitting something solid, which i thought was the valves and pistons but luckily it was just a torque converter bolt hitting the locking tool.
If your in any doubt remove the cam pulleys and you can then see the cam locking slot and the hole in the head the pin fits in to.Andrew

belt tensioner
Hi Mikey when fitting belt tensioner i follow book but when i pull on allen key to tension belt the whole center turns and goes over cam loosening belt...all i did to get here was remove tensioner after mole grip on all pullys to stop belt moving...i noticed the square was not in window on tensioner so loosened bolt to turn square in to window but its not possible ..do you think belt may be stretched ?or am i missing something? Mike

As for the belt refitting a used belt is a very bad idea!
You risk serious damage to the engine if not total destruction.
Fit a new Dayco (Genuine OEM) belt and the tensioner. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I drive L320 2.7td 2007.year
i just did a great service kit. It was only now after the replacement that I found this forum and learned how to replace the timing belt at the rear of the fuel pump and that the oil pump should be replaced preventively.
I have not been able to find any other topic where there is a detailed description of how it is done.
Please if anyone has a video of pump belt replacement, user Pete K
had it on page 17 set but no longer opens the old link, thanks a lot in advance.
