Removing passanger door panel ??
Anyone know how easy it is to remove the front passenger door panel ?
Following some little scrot smashing the window and having it Autoglassed... each time I close the door it sounds like a box of dried peas !
A quick look at Autoglass showed what looked like very narrow 'slots / holes' into the bottom of the door... so the guy could not get his vac down far enough.
So I want to take a look see myself and have a go... may have to resort to turning her upside down and shaking the glass out though
It just happens that I had to remove my passenger front door panel to access the botls holding the mirror on.
Okay there is nothing tricky about it you just need some patience.
1. Undo the 2 screws at the bottom which go through the drink holder.
2. Uncover the screw found behind the plastic cap where the lock lever is positioned and undo the screw.
3. The handle has 4 screws hidden which you must undo. Carefully push a flat blade screw driver into the 2 square holes found under the handle to let you lift the top part of the plastic cover off the handle. Be careful not to force it and then you will need to carefully unclip the catches holding the top of the plastic handle on. Undo the 4 screws.
4. Get yourself a wide flat blade screw driver and cover the blade with a rag and then gently work it between the door trim and the door. Start at the bottom until you get the hang of levering the trim to pop the plastic clips out of the door. Be gently with your levering. Work up both sides.
5. Pull the top of the tweeter housing to pop off the plastic stud found at the top of this housing. The plastic triangular housing is fixed to the door trim so don't try pulling it off !!!
6. Where the trim runs along the window pull the trim off the metal clips. Use a bit of force.
7. The cable running to the door lock can unclip from the lever attached to the door trim.
8. The window switch can be lifted out and unplugged with the trim in place.
9. Unplug all of the cables and the trim is ready to lift off.
Good Luck. Just be patient.

if the glss fragments won't come out, you may need to quirt some antirust wax or some form of saelant into the space to stop them rattling. As done on a 4x4 is born with the rivet heads.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

To save breaking the support inside the door
you also need to pop out the land rover badge from the
door trim and remove the screw behind it

Im glad to help ...and you never know i may need a return favour one day G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
I no longer need to belt my door with my fist every mile or so to get the mid-range speaker working Fingers crossed I keep the car I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Is that good news on the job front 2004 Discovery 3 - gone
2006 Discovery 3 - gone
2008 Discovery 3 GS - gone
2011 Freelander LE Special Edition - gone
2007 Discovery 3 XS - gone
2012 Discovery 4 GS - current
Cautiously optimistic. Should know more by the weekend I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

User additions to door panel removal...
(UK Passenger front)
8 screws as per PCH's description and Wiggs' piccies ( I printed them mirror-image ), not forgetting that one behind the LR logo!
Pushing up/off the top of the pull handle requires the screwdriver / prod to be 2mm or less and about 80mm long - it pokes right up from the bottom to push the top off directly - no clever little catch release devices as found elsewhere, and what I was feeling for...
As stated the tweeter is well attached to the door panel - sequence is
1) pull the bottom of the panel from the door and work up the sides (i.e. front and rear edges) clip by clip. A decommissioned dinner knife with all but the tip wrapped in insulation tape worked well.).
2) pull the tweeter horizontally towards you very gently to release tiny yellow clip
3) pull top of panel strongly horizontally towards you, being ready for it coming away suddenly as there are WIRES!
4) watch out for puddle lamp at the bottom (ouch it is HOT by now...) and its wire. Wire unplugs easily leaving lamp on panel
5) tweeter wire disconnects easily
6) single plug to window switch (this IS a UK RHD passenger door) fought hard even when release trigger (central, underside) was well pushed in
7) Door catch control cable does just hinge out as in Wiggs' E43314 picture
Thanks all
Andy
PS STILL couldn't get to the latch/lock mechanism How do they DO that? 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods
