No fix as yet, mine is still doing it - it's a Land rover thing LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Well after 2-3 weeks of trials I think I may have got to the bottom of this and what's causing it.
When I got the D4 I started a new bad habit, I simply jumped in, put my foot on the brake pedal and pressed the start engine button and 75% of the time of got this blasted bong and the EPB light flashing at me. However, in the last few weeks I've purposely changed habits and did the following start routine:
Press engine start button without foot on brake pedal; wait for dash lights to go out - well most of them, then put foot on brake pedal and press engine start button again.
Every single time I do it this way I don't get the bong, as soon as I change back to the bad habit, it bongs at me - now I doubt this is by design and more like a software clitch, but I'd be interested if any of you out there can confirm the same...

MrH, mine do it, i had tried too the same procedure that you follows and it does it, less than before, but specially in cold mornings. this weekend i had topped the battery as i presume it could be battery voltaje related, as when you jump and press brake and start engine button voltage drops as the glow plugs turn on, draining huge amperes and lowering car system voltaje, maybe resulting in electronics going a little crazy.... result of topping the batt: 14,7 volts SOLID on nav secret screen and parallel batt tester, even accelerating, coasting and braking, no change between 12,5 and 14,3 as before... so curious but remarkable. i will tell if the flasing light and ding arises again with this voltaje readings.
I have new batt (Q093 done), no short trips.

Sorry been a while, since last post on this subject. Unfortuantely it appears the problem still, occasionally persists although as you say less frequent than when just starting the engine straight off.

News from Spain:
After many days of cold weather (around 0ºC and below), AND keeping overnight the battery topped up with a CTEK MXS 5.0 charger that i have just buyed for this purpose and setted every nigth in normal car battery recharging mode, with negative lead to the car chassis and positive to positive post of the batt (to keep the negative lead energy counter running ok, not as before, that i got the battery out of the car to recharge it in a vented place because my previous and old fashioned recharger is...too fast sometimes to recharge "in car" ) i found that the epb fault DONT ARISES ONE MORE TIME in this two weeks. NO ONE DING
Volts reading now are:
14,2- 14.4: with car running (engine on), even accelerating, braking or coasting. not as before, with voltage jumping between 12,5 and 14,5 (in this jumping voltage case: no external recharge of this battery even from new, the only recharge was by the car alternator and his "intelligent" pseudohybryd recharge system, plenty of long travels), or solid 14,7 with outside recharge....
11,8-12.1: if a just turn on the dash without starting engine,
10,5-10,8: just starting, this measure is not exact, because the voltage readings are polled every half second to a second, sometimes it dont move from around 12v when starting, i put this reading here to post complete info only.... Very happy turning of the starter motor indeed!!!!
this is my experience, if it behaviour changes, of death epb flasing light and ding comes again, i will tell you in this thread. maybe another volunteer for the recharge method would be good... anyone? one step ahead please!

My car only made the bong noise early on when i got out a few times and locked it without pulling up the park brake switch.
It then bonged when i got back in and started the car. I figured it was just letting me know i hadn't put the park brake on.
I always set the brake on before i get out now and it hasnt bonged since....

news again, after new diag, reflash (with less bongs if not recharged) and new diag=> new epb module and ecu ordered.
i will post if the result is bad and the epb bongs arise again.

(i consider that recharging to fix it is NOT the correct Way of course, it was a parcial cure to try to see what could affect the epb system)

I've started getting this more and more. Dealer told me that nothing was logged and "never heard of the issue?". Very interrsted when someone has some definative proof as to what's causing it...

I got a new EPB module and news pads under warranty because the EPB stuck all the time (LTB00079v6). 2010 LR4 in Germany. Also got new rear brake mountings and rear brake pads because of squealing driving to the rear (LTB00380v3). And the suspension compressor was changed from Hitachi to AMK due to errors in the display (LTB00420).

Car going in for diagnostics next week. Any words of advise I can pass on to the LR mechs? (I suspect they will say - no errors logged - cone and fetch your car... )
