Is this a record?
After a fillup in Lydney did a long haul up home virtually all at 60mph on cruise. Whilst normally after hundred miles or so range plus trip would be about 580, yesterday it was hovering about 720!!! Actually got 33.5 mpg and trip comp said 35 so close enough. Anyone else got higher trip + range out if an auto?? Have I single handedly saved da planet??

Wasn't doing anything to trick it but knew combined 720 means 40 mpg so knew it was telling porkies! Pic was taken at M6 J20 Mickie Dees so as soon as got back on M6 it dropped to about 650 combined which is a bit more realistic for 33mpg but still about 10% overoptimistic.

Obviously you peeps have more important things happening than sitting in the slow lane watching the world go by!! You are the D3s that blast past me in lane 3, holding up the drug dealers in their RRSs!

Blooming 'Eck!
The best I can get is about 450 miles to the tank - I must be doing something wrong if I'm missing out on 100 miles ...Regards,

Alan, 28 is about the best I can get between Perth (where I usually fill up) and home, and sitting at steady (ish) 75 usually returns about 26 - 28.

Ive seen 33 mpg on the trip computer but Im not sure how the computer works it out so am a bit dubious to whether its true. I nnever bothered to fill up to the brim and work it out myself though........
does anyone know how computer works it out?? surely it cant be using the fuel level indicator as it must move up and down as the vehicle drives along the contours of the road......?
The computer meters the fuel in so it would be easy enough to use that.
They should be accurate - but always seem to be a bit out - I had a couple of Audi's and they were 3-4 mpg out as a rule. My D3 seems to be about 1.5-2mpg optimistic.Mark.

Always get around 31 32 out of the works one.
Cruising around 60mph no stop start driving very small amount of a and b roads
And usually running for a solid 8 hours and left idling for quite a long time to.
On a 432 mile round trip to Norwich and back this weekend, I managed 30.8 mpg (real figure, not trip computer) in my HSE auto. I'm on Vredestein Wintracs. Well chuffed with that
Made up for not having any aircon and having to drive there and back with the windows and sunroof wide open, oh, and having to follow a Norfolk Ferrari for 20 miles along the A17 - would farmer f ing Giles pull over and let the huge queue behind him pass, would he Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. All the boys that say they get nothing like it, I note you (like me) all have loads of stuff hanging of / on the car. Expo Racks, MTRs, A Bars and Spooky with his ARB bumber (or girder in normal speak! ). It's not too suprising that the MPG drops.
With mine it seems to be about 2 or 3 mpg everytime I bolt something on or change something.D3 HSE MY05 Auto
Expo Rack, Club MTR, LR Spots, A Bar, Light Guards, GNVP Sump Guard, GNVP Ladder, Cup Holders, RLD A Bar brackets. Disco3Club stickers, Aux power on Mod
