Tyre load Index

Right ....I need help again Rolling Eyes

I was showing Si the info on the AT2's and he mentioned that the load index looked a little low and advised me to check this out Thumbs Up

Results as follows:

Disco3 handbook tyre load index = 112

18" AT2 load index = 109

19" MT\R load index = 111

What are the issues relating to load index and potential warranty \ insurance etc....if any??

Very Happy

Standard road tyres 19" the load is 111. RRS 19" are 107 dont mess with tyre load ratings keep inline or more, never less. I'm sure Insurance companies might use that reason not to pay out in the event of a claim.

Did Si say what rating his Coopers were ?

They're damn good tyres, when the MTRs are up for replacement I may be tempted to go back to STTs if there's a better choice of sizes, there again I'd like to see what else they've changed on the MTRs apart from the speed rating

... So why is it that the alloy wheels are cast with "max load 940kg" (on the 18" wheels) ?

Has anyone found any decent (as in AT or MT) 18" tyres yet, or am I going to have to swap my 18" for a set of 17"

Cheers

Would be great if the 255/60 grabbers come out soon - otherwise i'm planning to use the 55's - what the heck!

The heck is (unfortunately) the 55's (apart from being slightly too small) are rated lower than LR spec so if you had an issue that could be traced to them you wouldn't have a leg (wheel?) to stand on, whereas the 60's will meet LR spec

Slimer, agree with that, it's the frustration of there being no tyres available yet for the 18" wheels!

What I'm struggling to understand is, why do the tyres need to be rated 1120kg yet the wheels are only 940kg? or am I missing something.
