Found this site ...tyre bible thing

http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html

The difference in load values between the alloy and the tyre may be because that the forces applied to the rim are constant whilst the forces applied to the tyre are variable. ??

Thanks DG, That helps a lot - never knew there was so much to it Shocked

In particular, that it's coincidence that 112 load index happens to be 1120kg, whereas 107 is only 975kg not 1070kg.

Also interesting to note that Landrover go for a much greater "safety margin" (at about 75%) than the default 20% or so. This is pretty obvious I guess, given the loads that may be imposed off road.
Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!
