Warranty Direct

Guys,

For comparison, I have just bought a Warranty Direct Luxury Care Policy (which includes immediate Wear & Tear, Air Bag, Turbo and Aircon) for my 2006MY D3 HSE TDV6 with 55K miles and FLRSH, for £500, split over 4 x interest free payments. Excess is £50, with Main Dealer labour rates and a mileage limit of 24K per annum.

That said, I read on another thread that someone got exactly the same warranty for £450, with no excess and 13 months cover, plus no betterment policy! So it is worth a haggle for sure.

I did a lot of research and all the smart money seems to be on Warranty Direct. I think the product offered here seems very good, but time will tell. Would be good to come back to this thread in a few months once a few claims have been submitted and dealt with.

Post added in the interests of fair competition! Thumbs Up

Cheers,

Kaiser

Try looking here

Extracare and Luxurycare seem to be the best options depending on your mileage

Just seen under clause 5 of what's specifically not included on a Warranty Direct policy and it states "Vehicles used offroad" - a non starter for most then Big Cry

I discussed that point with both Kam of MHC and Warranty Direct.

Both had a similar take, in that if a failure was attributable to off road activities i.e. hole in sump, then it wouldn't be covered, if the failure wasn't attributable, then it would.

I suppose damage caused through wading could be a difficult one and would probably depend on the "claim handler" at the time.

It may also depend on whether you were following "Land Rover recommendations for use" as outlined in the handbook, i.e. adhering to the manufacturers instructions, i.e. wading no more than 600mm/700mm.

I would think all warranties will have similar clauses so at the end of the day you pays your money and takes your choice.

I have just been quoted £565 for luxury cover with options for airbags and emissions, wear and tear starts after 90 days. This is on my 05 TDV6 HSE and can be paid over 12 months interest free.

I was thinking that this was a good deal but Kaiser's looks better with immediate wear and tear etc...

Do you think I should try and re-negotiate? Whistle

I took out luxury care policy with Warranty Direct and i got them down to £390 for 12 months cover and took it over 3 months interest free. The policy was for franchised dealer repair also. I had my bottom ball joints and some bushes replaced a while ago under the warranty ( wear and tear items paid in full if milage under 60k) and they paid up quite quickly, as long as you have had your car serviced by a VAT registered garage.

I am seriously thinking of renewing the policy when due in March 10.

Bow down Thanks for your assistance Kaiser.
Got Warranty Direct to bring their price down, their excess down, and they threw in extra month free for messing me about. Thumbs Up

Was quoted £1100 by WD for 36k 07 for 12 months luxury.

LR quoted £815 for the same. WD today phoned an offer of £680! Looking here they have a bit to go. Anyone managed to get the LR warranty for less?

Alex, ask for a bit more off from WD, but I don't think you will get much more. Ask for 13 months cover and reduced excess of £25 Thumbs Up .

Just to let y'all how successful been with WD, SWMBO not impressed as thinks I should have done better! Told her if she's not happy etc, but she says it's my job so tough!

ExtraCare cover with free airbags & emissions was quoted £500. Was after no betterment, an extra £50 but gave 13 months cover with that. 4 DD payments, consequtive months, and was for both cars. No problems with one car late for 1st service as only require info on last service. Also no problem with offroad use as long as the failure is not a result of offroading.

Job done. Thumbs Up
