After almost 5 years of dealing with Stratstone Hull I am finally fed up with the Poor standard of workmanship from the service department,
Over the years, leaking diesel, oil on seats, damaged panels have been but a few issues!
When the car was re called for the brakes and HPDP, it came out with broken trims and the master cyl was on by a couple of threads, I accept that Human error occurs every now and then , but this is every time the car is in!!!!!
even now , I'm having talks with them to replace 2 front tyres they have scrubbed by not tracking the vehicle properly , 7.3mm toeing out!!!
they have just replaced the full chassis loom due to the EPB and I have had a number of issues since which LR has covered,
I have told them I won't be bringing the car back to them and unsurprisingly they really don't care!
I have now decided to use Duckworths Landrover in Market Rasen as recommended by fellow members

Cant belive you lasted 5 years, I only lasted 5 weeks! and your right they dont seem to bother about the loss of a customer or not.
I guess us bikers compare the good service we get from the local bike dealers to how S*** these are and your spending 5 to 6 times as much.
And this is not just us i know loads of people who will not return as a customer. 'Just because you're breathing doesn't mean you're alive'

I use Stratstone in Stourbridge. I have a great deal of time for the service department, who have always looked after my Disco(s). They are approachable, you can ask advice and they invite you in the workshop to show you what they are doing.
However the sales department are terrible, they provided no feedback and are not even very well informed about the vehicles.
I'm happy to take my D4 for a service and repairs, but would think hard before I bought another landrover from them. Discovery 4 XS

My D3 was today booked into Stratstone for 0800 hours for the brake vacuum recall.
I arrived at 0810 hours and found the doors to the dealership locked, on turning back towards my car a tidal wave of staff walking towards me. Not one said anthing to me, one unlocked the door and they entered. I still wasnt sure if I was allowed in, I gave it a few minutes before venturing inside.
By this time the female receptionist, with bright blonde hair and brighter blue make up clearly wasnt interested. It took a good ten minutes before my presence was acknowledged. this gave her time to introduce herself to some poor guy starting there for his first day. Eventually my presence was recognised when she said to her colleague "I'll see to this guy" referring to myself.
It was clear she was totally unprepared, no job cards printed or anything. I told her she came across as though dealing with me was a chore, this she clearly didnt like telling me I was annoyed for waiting, too bloody right!
Eventually she asked if she could copy my licence, then found the copier not working and made some excuse about having to find another copier. She then returned and informed me I needed to sign for the insurance but couldnt get a printer to work. After more time spent looking through a cabinet she then told me she didnt know where the keys were for the courtesy cars and asked if I wanted a drink! By this time it was 0840 I was rather sharp saying I wanted and needed to get off having a life and things to do before work. She made an excuse saying she would have to contact the service manager who hadnt arrived as yet.
Whilst wandering around the showroom I was approached by the new member of staff called Barry. He was very polite and apologetic and said he understood my frustration but as it was his first day could offer little help. At 0855 I was finally spoken to by the service manager John, he informed me the loan cars had been in the workshop over the weekend. He sorted the insurance, took my keys and lead me to my courtesy car. He had told me it had little diesel and was his works cars. It was a bloody diesel Ford Mondeo with expired road tax covered in dirt both inside and out. At 0910 I left an hour after arriving.
My better half collected our car late afternoon, she asked them to complete the section of the service record for recalls only for the staff to try and tell her the brake vacuum was not a recall.
This has been the worst experience I have ever had at any main dealer, I have decided that I shall continue to drive past them in future and make the journey south to Duckworths.

Stratstone Hull are useless and extremely expensive.
I mourn the passing of Middleton on the Wolds.
Since they closed I have been using Armstrong Massey at Bilbrough York.
They come and collect the car, leave a loaner and return everything spik & span for half the quotes from Stratstone Hull.
You then get a snotty phone call asking why you are not taking it to Hull for servicing!
Seems they are only interested in selling FFRR with blacked out windows to locals with 'high cash' incomes... Club N.E.R.D.s

Hey Lee - how come you're not going to Duckworths?
Stratstone Hull are staggeringly awful. Bought my D2 from them. At the time there were a couple of chimps on reception who were utterly clueless. I'm a very reasonable kind of guy, and I accept that from time-to-time even the best dealerships get it wrong, but SS Hull were consistently poor.
I did attempt a test drive with them when I bought the D3. Demonstrator was bananas and ground out the underside of the towpack on their 'off-road' course. Twice.
They're well known in the trade for being poor too.
TBH Middleton weren't great either (who I went to after stopping going to Hull). Endless problems with brakes that they never seemed to sort. When I finally left the dealership, they'd not set the callipers properly, and I nearly hit a tree when the car swerved severely to the left when braking.
Duckworths in Market Rasen are very much worth the trip. Really great honest and open bunch. Superb customer service and very accessible (I stood and chatted with one of their engineers whilst he did the previous work on my car). Ring up to query something with SS Hull, and you're put through to a call centre somewhere. Ring up Duckworths and you can speak to their Master Tech. No one's perfect, and on the one time they couldn't sort something first time (it was a hugely intermittent suspension fault) they bent over backwards to correct and put things right at no inconvenience to me.

I had been going to Duckworths, but had seen someone put on here big change of staff at Stratstone and much improved so thought for the 'recall' I would give them a go. However I can honestly say Stratstone really lived up the their reputation I swear I will never use them again and shall in future continue to use Duckworths.

I think that if the techs had time to do the jobs rather than been rushed then the workmanship and service would be better! been constantly rushed to do jobs because the incompetent call centre at nottingham cannot book things in correctly and book things in with the wrong times allocated (so take little time out of the diary, i.e. ride high sensor recall, 0.50 FRT is not going to happen! to fit 4 sensors and calibrate via SDD is never going to happen! Then you have electrical diagnostic jobs which have been booked in with no allocated time via the call centre (which then alllows people to fill up the diary even more!) then the techs are forced to rush to get the work out! im a former pendragon employee and have moved to a family run business, but i have heard it from a good source that in 2011 things are changing and Stratstone Hull will be a very enjoyable visit in the future!

Which family business? Do you now work for the competition - if so, why so quick to defend?
Every now and again someone mentions that SS Hull are going to change, and they never do...
Call centre issues are internal management problems. At no point is it an excuse for shoddy workmanship from technicians, service reception staff who are utterly cluless, rude/wide salesmen and a DP that was so disinterested in the issues of his customers to even try and resolve problems.
I do business with people, not companies, and try and build lasting relationships. I also think the measure of a business comes in how they make things better when they've made a mistake! They had shocking staff, and plenty of opportunities to prove themselves by correcting problems given that they caused so many!
My guess is that it would be nothing short of a miracle if they (you? ) managed to turn around local opinion...

Hate to jump on a bandwagon but another sorry tale of Stratstones Hull.
having taken my car in on Monday this week with a stuck tailgate, burning smell from clutch when parking on a hill, suspension sinking when parked overnight and aliminium sidestep off for repair under warranty I got :
1) Call to say that they would not look at the clutch as they would have to drop the gearbox and if they deemed it fair wear and tear I would have to pay for the new clutch at £1750. I pointed out that at 34k miles there was no way it was fair wear and tear but they then said they could not replicate the smell and I was not prepared to fork out that kind of money.
2) They could not find a problem on suspension although since it has been back it has not sunk again making me think they have done something !
3) Tailgate took 2 days to fix with new latch fitted
4) They failed to repair the sidestep due to running out of time ( they had the car 2 days ). Now getting done by a guy down road for £20
they attitude of the service department was appalling
I am due an MOT and service in next 2 months and as still under warranty may have to use them again as they are the only real local dealer.

Really sorry
Take it to Duckworths - service is on another level. It's a bit further, but you'll save your money in headaches, more efficient repairs, and repeat visits.
You don't need to have a main dealer do your service though to keep up with the warranty 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

I am sorry to hear you have experienced the poor service at Stratsone in Hull too.
I have to agree with John I have been to Duckworths a few times and they are so much better, yes its a drive and bridge tolls but its worth it!

I am having to take mine for the recall for the brake booster, and normally I would rather knaw off my own arm.
fingers crossed they should have done enough of them to actually get it right
will I regret booking it in
Even tried my best for them to just give me the parts to do myself 'Just because you're breathing doesn't mean you're alive'

A workmate had his year old D4 in for service at the beginning of the week in Hull. He tells me he was charged £280 including pick up from Nr Hornsea. I couldn't believe it as they are normally double other quotes I get.
I was expecting him to get charged for a load of extras but I was gobsmacked when it didn't happen.
They have been trying to get through on my mobile every other day for a week, (in Holland so not answering) service & finance up in March, looks like they have iCal'd it!! Club N.E.R.D.s
