incidentally i had my discovery fully serviced at Land Rover Services in Hull 3 weeks ago - did a great job. cost £275 plus vat. Took wheels off as well (they dont do that at Stratstone).
Had Marting Hancock down to look at Engine system failure warning - suspected EGR's but marting plugged his box of tricks in and it came up clear on the EGR's but showed a troublesome Turbo boost actuator told me will need new turbo. He was totally sure that it would be the turbo, so off my car goes to K & R services in Hull for new turbo quoted £1600 all inc with oil change etc, will take two days to complete. They had problems so its not back till next momnday due to the virtually all bolts all being difficult to shift. will post as soon as any more info avail.

hi johnc, yep that's the same K & R on burleigh street off holderness road, i took my Grand Cherokee to them years ago and they were ACE !
this time they're doing the turbo for me. theyve done the job a lot of times but they said yesterday that mine is the worst theyve seen. its a right pig of a job but mine has seized nuts all round and what with the access problems due to lack of space around the turbo its taking them longer than usual but they apologised and said monday - very sad about this because Humber Land rover are doing an off road day tomorrow and my 8 year old wanted to go with me.
my only concern about these chaps is i hope they dont damage tyhe seats and door leather that ive just had repaired at great cost.
Martin Hancock is a self employed Diagnostics guy - what i know abot him is very little but he is used by K & R and Stratstones and Land Rover services, he basically drives around doing call outs with his little laptop and charges £50 quid to read and clear faults on your discovery etc. he came to my work when he did mine and he took it for test drive ran a couple of tests for about half an hour and told me turbo boost actuator shagged. There's load of info on actuators because the disco3 turbo has variabke vanes that are opened and closed by the actuator lever but the turbo gets very high build up of carbon deposits eventually this affects the actuator and the car drives like a slug at times. my symptoms are hunting in cruise control and no pulling power until 2500 revs then all hell lets loose making very jerky drive.
it was martin that mentioned K & R because he told me one of their mechanics is a star called Jefferson and was trained by Martin when he himself was at Land Rover.
anyway wait and see i'll let you know what happens.

K & R did a great job. CANNOT FAULT THEM..
£1568 all done.
runs superb now.
It was Ray that did the work, it caused hime loads of problems because the manifold nuts/bolts were seized quite badly so they had to burn them off.
Again cannot fault the work - no damage either to the cream leather or bodywork.
They incidentally also told me that they will be supplying most makes 4x4 parts from April including Original as well. Now thats worth noting for future reference.
