Thanks Rog for the recommendation on the Trevall mats. I've now ordered a set.
Regarding the music, I've plugged my phone in to the Aux socket via the headphones socket. A bit low tech but does the trick and can still make use of my Spotify downloads

Hi, im Jay from Telford. Been a tech for about 20 years, i have recently found a new job away from all the 'timed jobs' in the trade. You know the ones, service on a Sprinter 1hr! including admin, photos, test drive etc...etc...lol
Anyway, i now have a much better job working on off road vehicles, military vehicles and a few bits of farm machinery oh yeh and a few diesel fork trucks. With absolutely no pressure from the boss. He likes things done properly and the right way. Doesn't care for workshop timings.
I would like to thank you for letting me join, and would appreciate any info on how to remove the body off a disco3.

Hi,just registered
Doley from Liverpool.
This is the first land rover I've owned 2009 Lr3. GS 2.7 TDV6 automatic 6 speed with sport mode.
Bought the car 18 months ago with 154000 miles and the gearbox hunting for gears. Worked ok in sport mode. So changed the gear box fluid and filter and this fix the problem. Its just started doing it again but less severe,
Now I'm thinking, can you fit an 8 speed auto from an LR4 or RRS with flappy paddle shift say from a later model?
Would this work, be a nice conversion if possible.

Welcome all to the joys (and wallet emptying) of owning a Disco
Jay - Disco Mickey (forum member, mechanic and all round good guy even if he does live north of Hadrian's Wall ) did a post on body removal which may be of use:
https://www.disco4.com/forum/body-removal-...t=body+off
Doley - I don't know if it is possible to change a D3 gearbox for a D4 gearbox. May I suggest you make another post in the D3 Technical section and I'm sure those with more knowledge will let you know Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

hi All
just joined, not bought as yet, but on the hunt! Looking forward to reading up on even more horror stories from actual owners rather than just the internet rumours...
Is there a buyers advice section anywhere I can make a start on?? cheers... cheers, Steven.

Hello all,
This site was incredibly useful while looking for a D3 and now having bought one, I hope to use it even more.
My new (old) Discovery 3 HSE has been incredibly well looked after and I'm going to do my best to keep it that way.

Hi LR Newbie here.
Ive been driving 4x4's (mainly Shoguns / Pajereos and the odd Frontera ) for about 20 years and last week i bought a 2005 Disco 3. 110.000 miles and fsh.
Only issues so far are a dodgy CD player and the hand brake does'nt release automatically when lifting the clutch.
Other than that I'm loving it and cant wait to try her out properly once the Covid restrictions are relaxed.
May i ask what your thoughts are on genuine service parts verses pattern parts such as Brit Parts?
A genuine LR service kit costs a fair bit more than a Brit Part service kit however if necessary i would rather spend the extra money to protect the engine. But savings mean money to spend on other things like a proper hand brake service
Thanks in advance Dave

So I had a D4 HSE about 2 years ago after a 110 defender and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately it got burnt out by some who obviously had a problem with me and couldn't come and sort it out face to face!! well after going through a few cheap cars (Navara, RRl322(great car by the way)) to let things cool down, I have again purchased a 2011 D4 Landmark. I have so missed this amazing vehicle. hopefully this one will be with me a bit longer. I have to say after just 4 days of having another disco it just feel like the perfect car for my needs (3 dogs, 2 horses) and I feel right at home again. looking forward to many happy years with it.

Welcome all newbies and those returning to the fold
Dave67 - sometimes non-genuine parts can do the job well but there seems to be a general thought on here of "buy cheap - buy twice". These can be very temperamental cars and sometimes they just throw a hissy-fit when a non-genuine part is fitted. I would perhaps suggest that you make a post about any specific parts you are thinking of changing/replacing and get the views of the more experienced and knowledgeable peeps than me.
Cobramark and graystO1 - there are lots of posts on here with advice for buying a D3 or D4 - the search function is your friend and yes, there are a few horror stories on here but some owners are lucky and some unlucky, fortunately there are more lucky than unlucky owners (just don't ever let your Disco hear you say that or you know exactly what will happen )
ward - there are lots of us on here that subscribe to the idea that dogs are the most important addition to any Disco Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector
