D4 EGR failure
Following concerns raised with dealer about fuel economey. They did some work and found an issue with the N/S EGR valve. This was reported to LR technical and advice was sought, the reply came back today, new EGR valve required along with actuator and vacume pipe work The EGR valves are on back order and there is no idea when they will be available.
However on the upside the dealer has been fantastic Guy Salmon in Aylesford Kent, Phil top man I could not recomend them enough
Will keep you updated when the repair is done and hw the fuel economey goes afterwards.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Russell, did you eventually get the EGR replaced?
What impact on fuel economy?

The car arrived back 20 minutes ago. Will report back on fuel economey in a week or so time when I have had chance to fill up and calculate. Why do you ask, are you having issues?MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

EGR valves are clearly becoming an issue, but LR don't know why yet.

Right have had car back a week now and done 200 miles, from fill up to fill up and can confirm that the fuel economey result was 23.91 MPG. This is slightly above the two fill ups before EGR was replaced but not much, it is no where near what I was getting in the first three months of ownership. Will be talking to dealer over the next couple of days.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Russell - I haven't updated my profile but I have changed my D3 for a D4 afew months back. The D4 has been through a solenoid valve replacement based on VIN range and also had some fuel economy updates. However, I still have loss of power symptoms and the engine response has deteriorated greatly since first driven. It has terrible lag if trying to accelerate after coasting with the rev's dropping to 1500rpm or below. Has to drop down a gear to get underway and previoulsy it didn't do that.
The problem is similar to EGR fualts I had with my D3 so I am wondering if you noticed the lag as well and whether it has been fixed and you still have good power and engine response? The dealer aslo noted that after the solenoid valve replacement they were meant to test for vacuum pressure, but couldn't get any!!! The dealer here in NZ is scratching their head so any help you or others have will be appreciated. They have actually said there is no EGR fault on 3.0tdv6 so they are dismissing it and that concerns me as it seems you are seeing problems in the UK
thanks.
PS I may start a new topic on this in case others have similar but different issues

Lr warranty is only 5yo or 100 000km, so no.
3000£ seems a bit much compared to the ord D3, and that is not included Labour..
