| Another random suspension failure |

Grr: my LR3 just had yet ANOTHER suspension failure.
On this, a warm (18C) and dry Sunday, a few minutes after starting up after lunch, while driving normally (I was not doing anything, just driving steady on a straight and flat road) the car suddenly sounded a "ping" and displayed "SUSPENSION FAULT", and the yellow suspension failure lamp came on. After 10 seconds or so, it pinged again and went to "Suspension - Normal Height Selected", and the error cleared. This entire sequence now repeated *three more times* in the next few minutes, before it settled and the car performed normally.
Of course this /would/ happen on Sunday, at my second property in Mono, 100km from the nearest Land Rover dealer! I have now had, what, four random failures? All are slightly different and all involve the suspension. Budds in Oakville and Land Rover corporate have been very supportive and have spent many weeks looking at my car. Every time I get it back with the message it is OK now and should not fail again. But every time, it has.
In spite of their much appreciated efforts, I feel I can no longer trust the engineers to get my truck reliable. I love the LR3 to bits, but can not trust my particular car. Groan!

Mike,
NOW is the time to start pushing for a replacement car. The fault is obviously 'deep' and the dealer is not able to fix this. Only a tear down by LR would find it and I imagine take many many days to figure out... cheaper for them to give you a new car.
They can then benefit from learning why yours is having these issue. Will pay them long term if they did this.

Oh dear  This is exactly the same as my last failure, except mine lowered to the bump stops at high speed, then picked itself up again. Since then the dealer has renewed the wiring loom, and it has been OK, but I don't feel so hopeful now. Keep us informed.
You surely must have grounds to start demanding a replacement now?

I have indeed had my wiring loom replaced already - as well as the battery.
I agree - this car is saying "lemon". I just sent LR Corporate a note, and my last paragraph is:
"Chris, I am embarrased to write. I love the LR3 to bits, but clearly can not trust my particular car that may (and does!) malfunction at random times - especially not a Land Rover that I drive away from the city, where my cell phone does not work. I am very happy for your engineers to do what they can, but it seems they have now done this and then some - evidently to no avail. I am afraid this particular truck is saying "lemon". What can we do?"
I guess that is a leading question. I hate creating waves but I paid good money for this car and I can't live with the failures, so indeed I will be wanting a replacement. Let's see what they say.. I'll keep you all informed.

Murphy's Law says mine will fail tomorrow! I washed it today, and all my failures have follwed within a day of washing.

Gareth: washing - sounds like the "wet, internally corroding wiring loom" issue.

Michael, another question. I don't use any other forums, and on this forum we seem to be the only two vehicles with the same recurring problem. Are you aware of any other vehicles on other forums that have the same issue to the same extent?

Gareth: yes indeed. On the other forums I use I have seen a few other "suspension failure" victims.
Am I allowed to give the names of these other foums here, or is that frowned upon?

(The only reason I hesitated is that some forums (like Edmunds) will immediately kill any reference top other forums. I do not know if the people who run this forum might be as anal as Edmunds, and I want to avoid offending them!)
