Fuel vs miles . My driving is mainly a and b roads with some town driving. I've only had the vehicle 2 weeks so I'm hoping some gentle driving when the engine has bed in properly that 30mpg being achievable.
Just compared brim to brim figures with the fuel computer - not amused computer claims 27mpg yet true figure is 22.9mpg
On the D3 the figures were within a very small margin of accuracy - is it just a coincidence that LR are trumpeting the supposed improved fuel economy and at the same time the fuel computer set up becomes overly optimistic to support those claims

At the top of page three of the thread at the following url, there is a post by "kVA" which appears to sum up the issue rather well...

Ok, this might be getting a bit boring now but I've filled up today on a near empty tank and its worked out at an average of 25.89.
This tank full was used on virtually all B road and the car has now roughly 2400 miles. I'm not driving like a nun either!

yes i think land rover are well off with their fuel consumption figures. i was getting just over 22 mpg and driving style had no effect on it. just had the computer soft wear updated and now doing just over 25 mpg at least its moving in the right direction. but still short on the 30+ land rover claim.

I also concur with this. I'm getting a lot less out of my D4 than I did with my 40k mile D3 - around 5 mpg less. This sounds a lot too big a number to be merely 'settling in'. It may be that I am driving it a bit harder due to the better performance but not convinced. Come to think of it I used to get about 18-20mpg out of the D3 when I was towing 1.5 tonne of trailer/car behind it!

4000 miles and I'm now getting 29.5 mpg with combined rural road and motorway driving. So it's improving all the time..

Hi Bill - have you had any software updates, etc or is this just a case of getting miles on the clock? Have you noticed an improvement over time? Wondering whether I just wait see (I do about 2k miles per month) or take in and see what the dealership can do. Other alternative is a re-map (I did this with a BMW 535d and the performance and mileage went through the roof!).

I have to laugh at the expectation that a figure achieved during exacting test conditions will be replicated in everyday driving. It's not going to happen. Have a look at this to see the wild variance's between the official test and real world.

TBH I would stop beating yourselves up about it and just enjoy the motor 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I have got over 6-1/2 K on the clock so I don't think it's going to improve with time.
Also I also got between 20 to 22 with my old D3 towing a horse box.

I've had the updates but only this week. My figures were for the last two tank brim to brim.
Far from " beating ourselves up", I'm sure that exchanging this information is a way to let us see the results in "Real World" whilst enjoying the experience.

Are there any particular settings that impact on fuel economy e.g. climate control on auto, constant use of heated seats, fridge on etc? There must be some variance associated with the use of the kit.
I also run a C reg 110 with a 200tdi from an old Disco, which returns about 30mpg, and at least 3 trips to the chiropractor at £40 a pop. I recently stumbled upon an article in one the LR magazines stating that the 110 (not def) was a hugely important vehicle for LR as it bridged the gap between utility and the Range Rover. Priceless. I think LR have always been pretty good at marketing!PRH
