This morning I saw a friend use her phone in her D3 by voice activation and she used voice name tags. I had assumed that the name tags were the name tags stored in your mobile, so as this never worked for me, I hadn't explored this option on the LR.
Well, this evening I read my D3 manuals properly and have now setup:
- voice tags on favourite radio stations
- stored common used phone numbers with voice tags
- stored loads of customer locations on sat nav with voice tags
- store some sat nav personal locations with voice tags
Wow, this has now completely changed my view of this voice recognition. To be able to say "phone dial name [nametag]" or "navigation select [customer name]" is fantastic and much more acturate and faster than before. I've had this for a year now (i.e. RRS as well) and I've never read the manual properly!!
I didn't even realise you could store more than five navigation destinations!
However, it's a shame that when you say "radio tune foxfm" it then still scans the whole airways (takes approx 30 seconds) before getting to your stored station (i.e Fox FM).
I've got a car full of new passengers tomorrow......some are other brand 4x4 drivers (X5).....so I can see some showing off coming now Matt

Should a SE 05 car have voice recognition that works? I always assumed that it was a HSE perk, even though I can get the car to say "sorry" all the time!

My previous RRS SE had voice control, even though it didn't have the phone kit. Therefore, yes the D3 should as they are higher spec than the RRS. Matt

Sorry it's been a long hard day - what is PTI again (yes I know that it's probably in the documents somewhere)
Cheers

Are you sure? My SE RRS (I guess their similar) had voice control of the sat nav, radio, CD and notepad. Yet didn't have the PTI installed. Matt

My parents' SE has voice recgnition, but I thought it was if you have the upgraded sat nav that you got it. They don't have PTI and neither did my old HSE. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Oh yes. This was the subject of a few threads in the recent past.
In my case, I did not get good advice at the time of placing the order. I would have happily paid the extra for the enhanced system or even paid the extra for an HSE.
Still, that's in the past. I can however, look forward to a higher spec car when I change in 2 years. TDV6 SE auto, Java / Alpacca
