Received the letter below from VOSA , still not happy with it, the repair on the loom was done when the car was 13mths old, so it has lasted longer than the loom, All repairs were done at main agent! still begs the question is the EPB fit for purpose on a 4x4 vehicle , or is it that the loom is insulated and routed poorly ? either way it's a manufacture design fault that should be addressed and rectified. I know that they did change the full chassis loom, switch, actuator, shoes and back plates, this was told to me by the dealer, not by Chris at LR.

Another typical VOSA cop-out Evil or Very Mad

Never mind the EPB's 'fitness for purpose".....

It begs the question......

Is VOSA 'fit for purpose' Evil or Very Mad

Why do I get the feeling that lots of money is involved here. LR need to take the high ground and offer a manual replacement. LR know the EPB is useless, but it's too expensive to admit that. Far better to have a few people stranded in the middle of motorways with other users diving to avoid them. I think it's going to take a death to get this change, as that gets publicity and that ends up costing them.

I think its more complicated than that; doesn't the car rely on the solid state inclination sensor in the EPB module for its complex stability calculations?

I actually like the EPB concept, and if xEng could make an EPB module powered xEng parking brake, I suspect all issues would simply vanish overnight.

In my mind all the issues originate in the drum brakes. Sure AndrewS found an issue in the module itself, but if the damned shoes didn't keep slipping the module wouldn't feel the need to over-tighten in the first place.

What's the incidence of faults in the D4 'improved' park brakes looking like? Perhaps Spooky can swap all our rear axles for eLocker ones with new brakes, and we'd all be happy Thumbs Up
