Battery Disconnection

My Disco is due into a local bodyshop to get some plastic bits replaced (no thanks to a Fiesta driver who didn't know how to drive on the snow...). As the bodyshop are bound to disconnect the battery, are there any settings that need to be accessed / saved prior to disconnect?

I haven't got any destinations stored in the satnav and don't give a monkeys about radio settings. Anything else that I should worry about?

Cheers,
Ian H

I think you have to let the car "shut down" before disconnecting the battery, cant recall what you wait for, is it the radio display to go off?

Only things you might lose are the seat memory settings (if you've got memory seats) and the trip counter and fuel consumption values, not a big deal really.

When you stop, it's the park brake light that yoiu need to wait to switch itself off before disconnecting the battery. Other than that, nothing else that's critical to remember. You may beed to re-set your seat positions etc and you may need to change your satnav back to GB instead of Belgium! Thumbs Up

Thankyou chaps. Does it take longer for the vehicle to shut down with the bonnet up? I checked tonight and I lost patience waiting for the radio display to switch off (the EPB was not on) - dinner was ready and food took priority

It wont go to sleep with the bonnet open as she will be expecting you to do something.

On my vehicle there is label next to the battery that says to wait for 2minutes after the key is removed from the ignition.

Mine 'goes to sleep' with the bonnet open just fine - apply the EPB & wait for the light to extinguish as described above, then all will be well ...

Errr, confused of Somerset...

I'll have a play tomorrow to see what the battery voltage does (via the 12S socket). I know that the voltage drops significantly when the vehicle wakes up - so it should rise again when the vehicles returns to it's slumber.

Ta very much.

You also loose the adaptive memory for the auto box, you just have to start again from the dafaults.

No you dont... the gearbox adaptiveness is not cleared by a battery disconnect - but the sunroof position is (hold the close button for about 20 seconds to reset) you'll also need to reset the clock and any changes to the audio settings if you don't use the default settings, dependent upon how long you disconnect the battery for, the seat memory settings may also need to be reprogrammed

TFC,
So auto box settings can only be re-set by IDS/Autologic/BBS?
With battery disconnect, do you loose the fault codes as well?
