Has anyone else had problems with brake pipes, I have had a look and they look ok but garage saying they are excessivly corroded, its only five years old is this something that can be a problem for disco3 or is it a bunch of con men? thought it was just older cars that failed for brake pipes?

United Kingdom 2012 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Auto Baltic BlueDiscovery 4

I had an advisory on my MOT in October for corroded brake pipes. Probably more rock salt than anything else.

TFC greased them so hopefully won't be a problem next year

Hi

Mine had the same - same age - on the last MOT - very unexpected.

Apparently JLR use poor quality brake pipes that are prone to rust according to my mate. They ended up making a large section out of some decent quality stuff and it sailed through on the rest.

I know they said they were a pain to fit also due to all the gubbins, pipes, covers and stuff but did in the end.

Good luck !

I have a 05 car and have noticed the joints where pipes meet hoses are starting to show sighns of rust - the good service book says that all brake hoses should be changed at 6 years but I have found that Disco 2, P38 and now DISCO 3 brake pipes are about the only thing still to rust on these cars. Once changed for copper pipes, good for years to come - you will have got more Censored off with electrical problems before the copper causes problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took it to another garage at half four today to get another m.o.t done, Know it cost me another £40 to make sure, but guess what?!!!!!!! IT PASSED, NO ADVISORY, NO WARNING ISSUED, talk about dodgy dealings. I was told by the first garage that it would cost me £250+ to sort out the problem. Surely if the pipes where excessivley corroded then the second garage would have maybe mentioned it.
