I think I can get the airbag out with my eyes closed !!!!
I will strip it out again tomorrow and check everything again,the supply for the heated clock spring is one of the retro fit wiring kits from the site shop which I have spliced into the ground wire and taken that to an earth point on the body behind the kick panel in the drivers side footwell.
Still only get the red light on for a split second Crying or Very sad

Hi

I've installed Colin's kit, however the steering wheel does not warm up, nor the switch led changes colour.

Do you know the current draw for the heated steering wheel?

I've connected the heating power supply to the cigarette lighter (the right hand side one), is that ok right? I assume that there is enough juice.

I have measured the current and it is 1.2ua (micro amp), and it only draws current when the heating switch is pressed and kept pressed.

Well its taken me ages to get the parts together and then find time to do it BUT managed it yesterday and have to say I am happy with the result! Feels a little odd to start with as different wheel but soon forget what it was like. No flappy paddles or heated for me but more modern look and no sticky feeling!

I did mine exactly the same a few weeks ago. The cruise control different config takes a while to get used to but it is nice to have got rid of the sticky feel. Thumbs Up

I have now received my paddle shift conversion after a typical Xmas hic-up, but what goes where? - I have a tiny PCB that is like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle and the receiver which is logical. Do I need more cables? where does it get power from? The plug to the paddles has 4 pins the PCB has 10? Sad

You have bought the replacement circuit boards..........haven't you?

I seem to recall one of them had a 4 pin connector on it. Thumbs Up

For the switches?- yes all the switches lights and heated wheel working good, paddles come with a small PCB with 10 male pins on it and perhaps a 10 female socket hard to tell as its micro, I dont know where this fits and it cost to much to experiment Laughing

Does this help, from this thread (Page 26):

"Both Main PCB's also have a 10 Pin connector (2x5).
On the right hand side this is for the Heated steering wheel control sub Board.
On the left hand side this is for the ACC sub board currently only fitted on the RRS.
However in a really innovative move i have designed this such that this connector is also used for the Transmitter module used for the Flappy paddles which in turn has another 10 pin connector on that module which makes it a pass through module in the case of a vehicle requiring both paddles and ACC."

Yes thanks, that is a step forward but I still don't know how the paddles themselves connect as they have a 4 pin socket and there is no 4 pin socket on the small PCB or which way round the PCB fits, excellent instructions for the other switches but none for the paddle sender.

Hiya M3DPO

Sorry to read that you are confused and over thinking this a little.
But have no fear, I am here and happy to help Thumbs Up

By design, the angle of the 10 Pin connector by which the Transmitter PCB has to be plugged onto the Main PCB means it can only go on the left side PCB with the Bulk of the Transmitter PCB facing towards the centre of the Main PCB. This puts it and most specifically it's antennea directly above the specially provided and easily noted clear space in the Ground plane.

In any other location or in any other orientation it is simply not possible to put either assembly back into the plastics.

So you simply need to plug this into the only place it will fit and reassemble the switch pack.

Once re assembled, when you come to fit it back into the Steering Wheel, you simply plug the Paddle switches 4 Pin connector into origional socket provided for it on the back of the LHS switch pack as per OEM.

Thanks for the reply and assistance, my cable going into the right side switch (+) with a red, green, purple and black cable in it is not long enough to reach the left switch pack!

This part is all OEM. As such you should be able to see the 4 pin socket on the LHS switch pack.

If your wiring does not reach this, then you have most likely got the wiring connected wrongly or got your paddle switches on the wrong sides

Hi Colin, I have now fitted the small PCB, but there is a variation in my cable from/to the right side + paddle switch to the socket on the left switch cluster, I appear to have a short link cable missing or the cable has been installed wrong, is it possible to unplug the feed cable from the switches and turn it round? - it would then be long enough without any alteration.
These cables and switches where already fitted when I purchased it and I assume working.
If I have to make a cable up can you tell me which way round the plug fits i.e. red to top or bottom, see enclosed photos.
