I have done it ..but not with the faultmate .
Basically took a signal from the interior alarm sensor ...to a relay then to the power fold mirror relay .
Lock doors mirrors go in ..open doors mirrors out
Downside ..if you use the auto lock feature then as soon as you set off the mirrors go in again. Simple answer is dont use the auto lock ( can be turned off in settings on dash ) ..but i like the auto lock feature and i live in Manchester
You only need a ground wire to activate the power fold mirrors ...i didn't bother carrying on with it ..but maybee when the weathers warmer i will have another look
what happens then if you here a nice new D197 mirror fold relay clip when you press the drivers door switch but the mirrors do nothing?? have checked all fuses and still nothing!!, now scratching my head as was working perfectly...... HELPFFRR SC 4.2

The brown relay on the left hand side of the fuse box area is the powerfold relay module(D197)

Pin number 2 - blue wire with black tracer(wire)
This goes directly to powerfold switch. Just needs a dab of a negative wire on pin 2 to bring the mirrors in .. Another dab and they go out .
Hi Wiggs, I wanted to fit powerfold mirrors to my 2008 Discovery S Model (it's an import from Ireland). My current mirrors are electric but do not have powerfold. I have just checked for a relay (or the housing that the relay sits in) that's behind the dash (as per your photo) but there isn't one. There isn't even a place for a relay to go in.
Do you know if some basic models were produced without the ability to be upgraded? I'd read on another post that the wiring for powerfold was present on all D3 models and that they would merely require a relay fitting behind the dash to get them working. If I cannot fit a relay behind the dash do you know whether there anywhere else that I can fit one? If yes, would I need to reroute the wiring? sorry for all the questions. Thanks.

I have a 2005 LR3/D3 HSE (NA) that didn't even have a folding mirror option in 2005, but the relay socket was there and the wiring harness behind the door card has both plugs for the mirrors, so I went on eBay and imported a relay from the UK, got a powerfold mirror switch, and bought mirrors with power fold from a RRS (L320) model. It took me about 20 minutes to install everything and now I have power fold mirrors, cost me about $450 USD, but my passenger side mirror needed to be replaced no matter what.
The relay socket was a bit hard to see just from dropping the glove box, but I finally found it, I'd say if the socket is there you're probably good but if you want to be certain you'll have to pull the door cards off to make sure you have both mirror harnesses.

Thanks LoneRover. I've had the door cards off already many times infact. The wiring is all there. When I get the time, (and decent weather) I'm going to strip out the glove box completely to be sure 100% whether there's one there (or not). I've got the relay and powerfold switch. I'm forever hopeful! 😁👍
