You are welcome Chris
I hope it does you sterling service.
The text of the fault codes is exactly what is presented to a dealer using their equipment.
In most cases, it is pretty self explanitory but of course the more knowledgable you are about your vehicle and how it works, the less likely you will come across fault codes that you do not understand.
In many cases, it is likely you can use the FCR to get the car out of limp modes etc, and it will sort out codes and problems caused only by system glitches,
but obviously it cant fix things for you.
The bottom line is, for what it costs, it's worth having for insurance and confidence value alone.
You can reprogram it via laptop with the different languages, At the moment there is just the two, English and Spanish, (still beta testing the spanish) but once the one language is done, we will be adding more very quickly.

Hiya daimlermg
Well you might be feeling very brave, but you are also quite obviously thinking very sensibly. And as testified to countless times, it's a really wise investment anyway. And i use the term investment because unlike so many things one might buy, this really does have a high resale value whenever you have finished with it.
Take Matt_TDV6 as a prime example, he bought a system from us to fix up his Disco 3 project and used it endless times to full advantage. Then when he eventually sold his Disco 3, he also sold his MSV-2 Extreme on the board here within just a few days and for a quite respectable amount. In the end, the total cost of ownership to him of his MSV-2 was probably about equal to just one dealer visit. Both he and the systems new owner are very happy chappies. Mind you i think the new owner of his D3 has the biggest Grin of all.
Glad to hear that you know our lovely little island so well. I can't imagine what must have caused you to ever leave, but i can easily imagine it must have made you very sad
It's not quite the place it used to be since we joined the EU and prices went up significantly.
Of course most think of it entirely as only a Holiday or retirement place, but it's amazing how often it crops up on the radar and on the street i live in my little village, there is less than 10% who are Cypriot which as you know is a shame because they are amongst the friendliest and warmest people you could wish to meet.
Times between order and shipment are thankfully now just down to a day or two. If you asked me a week or two back, it was at least 10 days, but we are finally catching up at last.
Anyway, whenever you are good and ready, put your order in on line and PM me the resultant Ref number so we can give you the 10% forum discount. Do try not to leave it until the last minute before you set off, as its a good idea to get familiar with the system and get to know your Disco 3's own particular gaggle of ignorable fault codes before hand.
Warmest Regards
Colin

Hi Colin, I'm seriously interested in ordering the Faultmate FCR and I'm an active member of the forum for many months. Can you tell me how to proceed and may I assume the disco-forum discount applies?
Ciao, Michele

Hiya michele
Of course.
And given your membership duration and post count, you can indeed assume getting the 10% discount to established forum members.
You simply visit our web shop at www.blackbox-solutions.com/shop
although it now seems on inspection that i have broken just before i left the office today and will of course fix first thing in the morning, not exactly my first time, i do have to confess
Anyway, when i have fixed it, you will be able to select the item you want and proceed through the check out as normal, selecting payment and shipping options as you wish.
Don't worry that you don't see any discount options or the system seems automated, just go for it all at the full price.
At the end you will be given an order reference number, just PM that to me straight away.
As soon as i get it, i will forward it to my Admin staff who will intercept your order and apply the 10% discount.
They will then contact you to advise you of the reduced amount for your confirmation before proceeding as usual.

Hi Colin
I will definitely be ordering the Faultmate FCR
I will be going away in 2 weeks time and not get back until 30 March, Can you get one to be before I go or shall I wait and order it when I get home again bearing in mind I wont have the Car to use it on until then so it can wait a bit. Also may I assume the disco-forum discount applies?
A few have reported needing one on the journey home after taking delivery. I know is 3 miles but you just don’t know how far these cars can go without withdrawal symptoms
Best to have one with me. Faultmate MSV-2

Hiya Daimlermg
I noted your post in another thread Re MSV-2 and will answer your MSV V FCR specific questions there, but in the meantime will include the score re MSV-2 shipping in response to your questions.
FCR's are available from stock (just), MSV-2's however have a couple of days additional delay as we are having trouble keeping up with demand. Transit time for either is 3 to 5 days depending on service chosen, from receipt of cleared funds, making it about a week to 10 days for an MSV-2.
Regarding assumption of discount, sadly as you have only been a member on the board for about 30 days i am really sorry to tell you that you fall substantially short of the minimum criteria i have agreed i can / will accept.
However, don't feel too bad, as i have explained to someone else on this post, there are other aspects that far outweigh a 10% discount.

Thanks Colin
Looks like I will have to give Pete more time with the MSV-2 and mapping option so I will play safe and get the FaultMate FCR31 to take with me on my Europe trip on 1st May.
I don’t get my car until 30 March so I can take one now for immediate delivery to get to me by no later than next weekend.
Or if you can hold off posting it so I get it at the beginning of April when I get back from a different trip that would be great.
If Pete is going to add mapping to the MSV-2 then I will then have a FaultMate spare and will look at Selling it here late on.
Let me know which delivery option works best for you and I will place the order on your website
Thanks Faultmate MSV-2

Just got this on the other thread from Pete.
Quote
Quote:To clarify, you can buy Colins MSV2 now and when tuning is available for the D4 it will also be added to the BBS version as well as my branded version.
Just as with the D3 RRS and Puma Defender the MSV2 owner can buy online at the BBS shop my tuning, this will be exactly the same for the D4 MSV2 direct from BBS.
So no need to wait for the D4 MSV2, you can order direct now and still have the same functions as my branded tool when its ready.
I have run out of time tonight as I have to rush out so I will start again tomorow lunchtime and decide between the MSV-2 and Faultmate Faultmate MSV-2

Hiya daimlermg
Well the shipping cost losses may result in a local / forum resale being a better bet, but otherwise please know that i would offer to credit you the full RRP of the FCR31 against an MSV-2 if its within say 3 months.
Personally i would advise you to get whichever you decide upon ASAP, so you have the most chance to familiarize yourself with it before any major trip.

Hope you can bear with me while I ask a few questions
My "local" dealer is almost 70 miles from me and its a PITA if I get an error code in the Disco or a suspension failure message, a problem with the EGR Valves etc etc will this Faultmate FCR allow me to access the Discos computer and reset the faults allowing me to continue with my journey?
As I am new to the codes etc do you provide a list as to what each one means or is this available online?
I have been having trouble with my FBH for example recently, I assume if i have read this thread correctly that I would be able to plug this device in and delete the error codes and get it working again without having to take a trip to my dealer?
Lastly I have been considering contacting Pete @ Bells Autos for the Disco 3 Remap, will the Faultmate FCR work in conjunction with Petes device?
Thanks in advance

Hi
Yes the FCR will allow you to access your discos faults and reset them so you can carry on with your journey.
It will also give you an explnation of the fault or faults stored.
Wiggs did a full thread here on the D3, ive also done one for the D4 both threads were using the FCR tool from BBS. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic44101.h...fcr+review
Regarding a Remap although the FCR will work along side the BAS interface that still means 2 devices in your car because the FCR does not cover this function as its only a Fault Codes Only tool.
If you are considering a Remap and BBS level diagnostics then the Faultmate MSV2 will do both full D3 diagnostics and added functions like CCF edit, full D3 ecu flashing capeabilitys and also apply my Remap tuning which can be pruchased seperatly but direct from the BBS web shop all this inside one box so it may be worth considering.
The MSV2 has far more functionality than the FCR and is an outstanding peice of kit for the money.
Pete
PS have a route arround on the forum im sure Colin from BBS has posted a thread with the forum price in it.
