Fantastic MPG Increase
A big thanks to The Coachman!
Blanks arrived today and fitted this evening. Having only owned my Disco for 2 weeks I bought these to stop a future EGR fault causing problems, and I honestly didn't think anything was wrong with my EGR's...
... the test drive after fitting suggests otherwise though - urban MPG has picked up from 18-20mpg to 22-26mpg, and a quick blast on the motorway turned a steady 22mpg into a constant 28-29mpg.
I figure the blanks have already paid for themselves in fuel savings!
I removed the airbox butterfly and I also removed the pipes and made my own airbox blanks - I'm not sure if it's down to the improved airflow or the blanks, but there's more power there now too!
Cheers
Simon

About £45!
The BAS kit includes blanking plates for the airbox so you can actually remove the whole EGR pipes. With the £5 kit from The Coachman you have to leave the pipes connected (I made my own blanks for the airbox using the existing EGR pipes)

I thought just blanking it off without removing the 'gubbins' caused failure lights on the dash ?

I think the 'Gubbins' you have to remove is just the butterfly in the airbox - I removed this too
I only removed the pipes because they protrude quite far inside the airbox and look like they obstruct airflow.
Mine is a 2005, so like all other pre-2007 EU4 models, the EGR failure doesn't light up the dash warnings.
I'm not sure what you have to do with a post 2007 model?

Blanks received many thanks
Unfortunately for me due to lack of tools and mechanical know how, I think they'll sit on the shelf of my garage.

Kevin, They are not hard to fit, but my suggestion is if you dont have an egr problem at present, keep them in the car. If you have a problem on the road many breakdown companys will identify the fault BUT they wont have the blanks to get you going again, simply hand over your blanks from the glovebox and they will fit it to get you going again and its a permenant fix, alternatively hand them in at your next service and get them to fit them on your behalf. You could always give the guys at your local pub meet a shout - I am sure one of them will do it for a few beer tokens
