06 Disc

I remember someone posted a comparison betwean an 06 Disco and an 05 saying the 06 suffered less turbo lag and that an ecu upgrade was available for the 05 model to bring it inline with the 06. Anyone remeber this post or know wether it's true?

Thanks

The latest software is supposed to make it smoother, I can't say there is any difference between the 2 for turbo lag. The biggest difference I have noticed is my car has been doing 28mpg from day one, I never got that for some time from my old one.

In a very short space of time I went from an old Turbochip, back to an old (MY05 type map), to a newer TC map (all in the space of 2 hours). A few weeks later I went from the newer TC map to the new LR Map. Whilst the car had lost the mid-range punch that only the TC upgrade can give; the lack of hesitaion in low revs, in relation to any other map, was outstanding.

Two days later I had the latest TC upgrade (which includes the LR updates) and I now have the best of both worlds.

The car is smooth, from any revs, no hesitation, good mpg and with a kick-in-the-pants mid range.

I didn't set out to be a test driver for half the ECU maps available, just the way it worked out. But I can say the latest 'standard' ECU map works wonders in a 05 car. If you get Turbochip to do it, you also get a little else on top too!

It was me, commenting on the fact that my new (06) TDV6 felt more responsive than the 05 models I had previously test driven. Also handled better on road, but this is probably due to the Pirelli Zero tyres which are very much road biased.

I've just taken delivery of a new 06 model HSE. Even though the engine needs bedding in and I'm driving it gently, it is much more responsive and lively than my friends 05 SE or my previous RRS was when new.
Also our HSE seems to handle much better than our friends SE. It seems to be much better at the high speed corners - more like the RRS. This may be due to the wheels being just 1" larger, but it could be more than this. Has the suspension been tweaked?

d3matt, does your HSE have Pirelli Zero's fitted? The 05 HSE's I test drove all had Wrangler HP's fitted. I'm guessing that my 06 HSE has better on-road manners due to the Pirelli's, rather than any suspension mods.
