Well the dealer just spoke to me and hasn't exactly offered anywhere near where he should. So I've posted in for sale to see what people think I should get for the D3.

Been there, done it and got the tee shirt.
Very happy with my 6 week old FL2 TD4-e GS
Do I miss my D3. Not yet, but will do next weekend when I can't get 6 in the FL2 for a weekend away and have to drive her Zafira :censored:

My father has a FL2 HSE and is highly delighted with it. I have driven the Tiguan and the Q5 amongst many others. The Tiguan is ok, but in my opinion that's about it - ok. The Q5 had such an awful ride and with the seating position if you drove it much you'd end up with curvature of the spine (pedals badly offset). Neither would hold a light to the Land Rover off-road, and reliability, oh I see the fantasists have already commented

as the only person to mention reliability in this thread please explain why i am a fantasist I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

SJR,
Sorry you've taken it personally (and my mistake that you are the only one to mention it - had just been looking at another forum with a similar thread about reliability and how wonderful some Toyobishi or Suzihatsu is).
The point that I'm making is that there's a largely unfounded attitude in the UK that "if it's German it couldn't possibly go wrong" but if it's a Land Rover it will. The latter is just as incorrect as the former. ALL manufacturers have their faults, but we seem (I use the "we" collectively) to love to bash our products (why buy them?) and look at others through rose coloured glasses.
Once again, appologies to fellow and prospective D3 (or any LR) owners.

I didn't take it personally, just thought it was a comment that needed to be explained
LR reliability as far as i am concerned is good, very few problems in 3.5 years of D3 ownership, and nothing really serious! I know plenty of people with Mercedes/BMW etc and they have all had problems of some sort or another friends who have had VW's seem to have nothing but praise for the reliability and it as on that basis i made the comment re the Tiguan.
There is a common issues with these sort of forum's that all the posts are generally about problems people are having, you don't post asking for help because nothing is wrong, so it does need the reader to exercise a degree of balance or common sense, and LR are improving in the reliability stakes, just others have more practiced in building reliable cars.

I had a VW touareg before my D3 and i did like it alot. It was a great car but it didnt like working too hard, but for general stuff it was fantastic, towed very well too and wasnt too bad off road. (didnt have the air one so was hindered but ground clearance sometimes) But you will be happy with a VW even if it is the touareg's little brother! Filming something somewhere...

VW's are nice cars. I've driven a few of the V6 tregs and a couple of the V10's stunning grunt and smooth
