I'm glad Windoze remembered my password; I had no idea!

Seems quicker today, unlike me - I'm supposed to be doing work.

Forum upgraded to latest software version, and some new features added which I will explain shortly... however they are:

I have updated the forum software and layout. This is not an upgrade to the core forum version, however I have incorporated a number of my own improvements Smile
  1. Most of DISCO3's layout is now as close to valid HTML 4.01 Transitional code as I can get. Those which aren't will be updated as soon as possible.

  2. I have added the [post] and [topic] BBCodes which allow you to link to posts and topics directly using their numbers.

    For example, these BBCodes....

    [post]31559[/post]
    [post=31559]Some text[/post]
    [topic]414[/topic]
    [topic=414]Some different text[/topic]

    .... produce these links automatically:

    Post #31559
    Some text
    Topic #414
    Some different text

  3. There is a new Sponsors Directory which currently lists all of DISCO3's banner advertisers and provides information about becoming a sponsor.

  4. A number of small changes have been made to the layout style, most notably in removing unnecessary and inconsistent information. This has been done most obviously on the front page towards the bottom (logged in members/PM/login area) and when presenting pagination.

  5. When registering, there is now the option to reload the confirmation code image in case it is unreadable.

  6. When registering/editing your profile, the ability to change your date format has been removed, and the Latitude/Longitude fields are now in the more accepted order! Also, when you change your country from the drop-down list, the flag associated with that country is previewed automatically 8)

  7. Lastest and bestest, there is now a Calendar, to which you can add events. All events are first approved by a moderator before they are released - this is done in order to keep the calendar tidy.

    If you wish to link to an event which you have added to the Events forum, please use the pre-formatted link on the "Add Event" page:

    [post=####]Event Link[/post]

    Just replace the #### with the number of your main event information/signup post.

That's about it, but PLEASE PLEASE report any problems you find. I have been as careful as possible in changing things, but obviously there may be some problems I haven't spotted during testing and I would very much appreciate feedback if there are issues Smile

So, please enjoy the new bits and bobs! I promise I will put together a step-by-step guide for the Calendar shortly Wink

Nice one...
The only issue I've found is the order of the tab fields on the login boxes goes 'username' <login> 'password', it used to be 'username' 'password' <login> no great problem, just means I need to remenber to double-tab to enter the password.... Wink

I'm currently looking for a ticker-type system to rotate through a variety of global announcements/messages.

The moderator team decided that the strut announcement was 'old news' Smile

Alright Mr Impatient Laughing
Er, slight cock-up, the button is there now Embarassed

Click the calendar link on the menu bar:

Scroll to the bottom, and in the bottom right corner is the Add Event button:

The add event page is much like writing a new post/PM, but with the following extra fields:

The Description should contain brief information about the event, detailed info should be placed in a (linked to) topic in the Events forum Smile

If you don't need the event link, simply delete the

[post=####]Event Link[/post]

text Smile
