D4 Ergonomics
I took a D4 for a drive today. Very nice - didn't go far, but it seemed very responsive and with only a couple of miles on the clock.
My immediate reaction to the interior is that it seems quite busy - although I'm sure I'd get used to it. On first look, the buttons seem a bit more 'bling' and less substantial - even a bit fiddly compared to the D3.
But on the ergonomic issue - I think the new placement for the terrain response wheel, height buttons etc is terrible! Not easy to reach from my standard driving position - I have to lean forward - and then the gear selection lever is in the way - it really doesn't seem very clever, especially when compared to the D3 when (as has been said before) they are naturally at your finger-tips when your arm is resting on the centre console.D4 XS MY12 Galway

Yes, but ask yourself just how many people actually use the TR knob with any degree of regularity.
LR build Discos for mass-market potential. The folks on here who are more keen to use the TR probably only represent about 2% of LRs Discovery market.The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

I don't disagree - but even 'mass market' punters like to play with... err, I mean use the height controls. But regardless - it seems a backwards step ergonomically.D4 XS MY12 Galway

Maybe its intentionally less convenient, it might help reduce warranty claims for compressors if the ride height is not changed so often because it is at your fingertips...just a thought I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

2 years in, and i still raise the suspension when trying to open the windowss... (D2 hangup) . Wish they were located there, i don't like door mounted buttons - makes me nervous when opening the door in the rain.2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

what I am confused about with the move of the TR is that teh RRS appeared to still have them further back.....or was I imagining things? Still as they are only wires surely someone can move them and release the sunglass and mobile phone/PDA stowage end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
I recon it’s a great spot. The amount of times the dog had put the HDC on…..

I now have this image in my mind of jdea's dog riving around the countryside in his D3 If in doot, flat oot!!
