Wow, that's just like a massive rubber band flying into his bumper. I'm sorry it happened but seeing how it was attempted I'm not surprised.

Final recovery was Blue Meanie and I anchoring the D2 with an additional winch from a gaylords V8 stropped to a tree. Both anchor motors were pulled backwards with brakes on 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Some great pictures there!
Quick question though - when you get stuck up to the doors in mud, are you expected to get out and help or can you just sit there and wait for the marshals?
My concern being flooding the interior with smelly mud!!2014 D4 XS

Marshalls dd it all!. BUT we were all prepared to get out and get muddy if needed. You could go round all the wet stuff if you wanted to so it was driver choice!
thanks Neil - fantastic day, couldnt beleive how much sand there was! The boys thought it was as good as going to the seaside! Great day out allround.
Good to put names to forum names - especially Craig/Craig and Richard/XTC and meeting with Neil and Andy again.
a few pic - predominately Orange in nature!
Craig - thanks for the rescue, my boys thought that was the best bit, maybe next time I get to use my winch for real!
When do we start??
STUCK!!!
Now, any clues how to clean out sand from the intercooler with a winch and A bar fitted???
cheers
Dave

Drive through a nice deep ford! That what we did on the way home, it certainly helped sort the underside out. Then I spent £5 at the jet wash getting it fairly clean, but going to clean it again today with elbow grease, and then I'll probably wax it ready for the LRO show. Mrs Stu is planning on hoovering the sand out of the inside, I think we might be shopping for a new Dyson this afternoon!D3 HSE MY05 Auto

It wasn't. It was an 8000 KGs rated strop. Thing is Wilma probably weighed in at close to 4 tonnes being stuck in silt etc, plus the weight of the D2, plus uphill pull and a speedy snatch so must have been getting close to that rating.
I did question whether it was a kinetic strap and the head marshall showed me the label on it and it did indeed say kinetic 8000kg but as has been previously said with Wilma plus occupants, ( of which one an un-named wag commented might have increased the load significantly ) and with the incline was probably just a bit too much weight wise. All in though I think the marshalling team did a cracking job yesterday and theeeeennn......???

It was the head marshall that also told me that it was a kinetic strap which is what prompted me to refer to it as such in my earlier post. However, I agree with Slimer and others that it didn't look like one.
The important thing is that nobody was hurt and all the marshalls at the scene were ensuring that all onlookers were safely out of the way when the pull commenced.Clubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. I did try the 'I'll be right back' line, but Benson didn't fall for it and gave the game away

Obviously not my best side, but it's tiring work being dumped with 4 kids all day, parents these days . Mrs Snowy thinks that photo is hilarious The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.
