Discovery 4 Models & Pricing - Australia |
|
Some feedback from a dealer, supposedly in the know.
Models for Australia:
TDV6 - 2.7 in 5 seats can be optioned to 7
TDV6 SE 3litre - 7 seats standard - price "mid eighties"
TDV6 HSE 3 litre - pricing ??
and on the V8 front - one model only V8 HSE - all bells and whistles, fully optioned up - "higher specs than outgoing RR Vogue" were the words - and oh - the price $125,000
Pricing is expected to be officially confirmed in August.
I am not sure how close to the mark this is, but the sales was was confident and knowledgeable about this, and said they were already sitting on quite a few orders for the 3l model.
I did not discuss V6 so cannot comment on whether it continues or not.

Yes, Techo, ballpark figures only though.
I understood that dealer demos should be here about a month or so before the 1st ones for sale, with December given as the possible delivery date for mine.

I heard the V8 would be in the region of $130k.
Oh and that runout D3's would be more expensive but would come with in-car DVD and 19in wheels - and that there werent many D3's available in either current stocks or available run-out vehicles.
All looks good for the resale figures for our D3s

Well, post MY2005 anyway...hey Norto Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

It looks like Land Rover are trying to match Toyota LC200 pricing (pay more for less)
I enjoy my D3 HSE but to buy a D4 HSE which might be $15K higher than my 05 one is going to be tough - it's going to need to have a lot of new goodies (beside the 3lt) to make it worthwhile.
Might be keeping my D3 for a lot longer than I thought.

Then factor in that there are no mud terrain tyres available for the D4s, as I heard that Goodyear have stopped making them.

Very good point Mr Jones. Isn't the D4 still running on 18" so the GG AT is available which is what I use for around town. I will miss not being able to throw on my 17" with STT's so that's another reason why I should keep my D3 plus it's only just run in with 98K km on the clock too

I think the D4 is a mistake, it should of been a D3 Series 2. It may be a slicker product, but still a D3.
The D4 will have to get some "runs on the board" before I will even consider it, I purchased the D3 because it set a benchmark, that not even the japs have caught up to.
The biggest issue for me will be 19" rims, It is a waste of time if you can't get a good afordable set of ATR's for it.
When I am due to replace my current D3 I will be looking at what else, is in that price point, and the features that are offered. Trust me, what could go wrong?

Graeme,
1. Do you know what spec $82k is ?
2. Have you worked out the $ increase over D3 for the similar spec ?
3. Have you seen what specs we will get ? S, SE, HSE still ?

Sorry Scott, I meant to show 3.0 TDV6 SE.
I understand that the SE is minimal spec incl base model radio without MP3/IPOD connectivity (no monitor) but still aux input like MY09. Sat Nav etc as options although early builds might have chargeable extras basically to demo the new model's features. I suspect the full specs would be available now as prices alone don't tell the whole story. I'm waiting on feedback to confirm that mine wont have any extras that I don't want, such as SatNav & DPF, but with ETD now 31/12 I expect it will be standard production rather than special.
I think the MY08 RRP (white?) was around $76K but can't be sure.
Models are shown as:
2.7 TDV6
3.0 TDV6 SE
3.0 TDV6 HSE
5.0 HSE
3.0 HSE is RRP $94,990 with Vic driveaway price of $102,495.

The 3.0 TDV6 runs on 19 inch rims, as it has to have the bigger brakes from the high end RR's to handle the power increase (200kw 630nm)
So here we go again.
Land Rover brings out a new model to go OFF ROAD in name only and leaves out one of the most import items. The TYRES!
Yes, they have the 2.7 poverty pack with the 18 inch rims. Remeber how long it took for the tyre makers to bring out an 18 inch AT tyre.
So do not hold your breath for a 19inch AT tyre....you will turn blue and fall over.
