Has Scot's Law lost some credibility ?
Held as a model for others to follow, the Scottish legal system appears to be taking a bit of a beating from worldwide opinion today over the release of the bomber of PanAm 103 over Lockerbie in 1988.
Right or wrong ...Well what do you think ?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Probably speaking out of line, and voted.
He should have rotted in his cell, we are not privvy of any other info like some reports of Unsafe convictions, but on face value HE PLANNED the 270 killings, showed no remorse and now allowed home to aledgedly die within 3 months.
A travisty for the men, women and children at 30,000 feet, and those in Lockerbie all getting ready for Xmas. Sorry, he was convicted and sentanced to LIFE, that means he should have died in his cell.

If he was guilty, then why should he be let out.

Just prooves the UK is a soft touch TBH, what with this release and Ronnie Biggs, who's next to be let out
Or is it the Scottish Government poking two fingers up to the yanks with regard to him going back to Lybia, they strongly condoned the release, but yet the CIA inplicated Scotland by landing terrorist suspects aboard snatch flights in scotland to refuel. Titfortat IMHO.
America does have one thing right, LIFE does mean LIFE.
But quickly doing rough calculations
8 Years Served - 2920days
270 deaths
Means he served 10.81 days per person He killed

He was found guilty. Therefore he should not have been let out. Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it
None of us know the circumstances so it's all speculation and conspiracy theory.
If he did it, I can't believe he acted unilaterally. At best, he was selected for the job by his masters. Politics have inevitably muddied the waters.
For me, I'm glad he is out of my country (presumably with the rest of his family who we have been paying for to be kept here too).
It's time for closure. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

As a Scot, I'm embarrassed and angered by the actions of the people we elect to serve us. The appeal process should have been followed and IF that was successful then fair be it. I believe there are a lot of skull duggery over this conviction, but....
...the fact still stands he was convicted in a court of law to the mass killings or attributation to that fact and should have been left to die in his cell with the NHS system we have to use.
I dont subscribe to the, "he's going to die, so let him go". Thats God taking justice where the Scottish law system failed to do so.

Agree with you there, but I still would have denied the Free Air in his lungs. Tomorrows paper will have pics of him and his teacher Gadaffi arm in arm no doubt

My Dad is working over in Tripoli at the moment. It'll be a bit of a nightmare for the white eyes for the next wee while.
After all that has gone on, 911, 7-11, PA 103 and Glasgow airport we have just given a green light to terrorism. Weak on terror, weak on immagrants, etc, etc, etc.... prefer to hammer their own people that offend 'guests'
Makes you wonder which party would do the job right. I know who I'd vote for but will not open that debate again.

Personally, I have been watching the news with baited breath hoping to hear of a Libyan Airlines being shot down over the Med by some passing USAF Mavericks 'by mistake'.
As I said, I'm glad I'm not paying for him and his family to exist on my doorstep any longer. That's all. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
