Just Cancelled extended warranty |
|
I took out LR select warranty on 10th July when D3 had done 91,000 miles. Paid £810 (£8pmth).
This morning the paperwork arrived and its stating the warranty expires on either 10th July 2010 or 116,000 miles. whichever is the sooner .
well, i must not have read the paperwork properly because I didnt realise it was limited to 25k miles
I am now on 97,000 miles so dont have that many left. i'm guessing i'll get to 116k by October time...
so ive cancelled . its not worth it for 4 months...
Are there any warranties that dont have mileage limits ? Duncan

Try warrantywise, they have no milage or age limits and you can pay up front or monthly.

I have just taken it out but haven't claimed yet. There are a lot of options you can make, like what price of labour you want to cover, ie main dealer prices or local garage. I actually got a quote on line then didn't do anything for a week or so and they called me and took £100 of the price, so a little patience is called for.

not sure about in the UK, but you are better off seeing if you can find a company that offers one direct rather than through a dealer.
In Australia the dealer commission on extended warranty is about 41%. So you have a better chance of getting a good price if you can go direct.
....and i thought in the UK you can bet on anything. I wonder if your money would be better spent betting that you will have a major mechanical failure in the next 3 years 2012 MY13 SDV6 SE D4 Ipanema Sand with Almond leather

The AA warranty covers high mileage vehicles, I think to 150k miles.
Even at that, they'll allow you to take a 2 year policy out at 149,999 miles
I've got a 2 year policy with them for £17.50 per month.
But, it doesn't cover Turbo and many other new fangeld bits ie EGR valves & cooler, oil cooler etc
Also there's a £50 excess per claim.
There are various types of cover though.
It all depends on the insurer underwriter for any particular policy.
Be aware of the policy that states you must breakdown and be recovered, before they allow a claim.
I've already had a brake caliper and a wheel bearing covered and paid up.
[AFAIA even LR extended warranty doesn't cover wheel bearings!]
There's a doc somewhere in my gallery on my policy.
Just be aware that extended or aftermarket warranties are completely different to manufacturers warranties.
They'll always try and wriggle out of it with the old addage "it's wear & tear".
The way I look at it is - if it covers it, great;
If not, I've got a pot of cash aside to cover things [since I don't have any finance on it].
Good luck

Performance Direct do a warranty that also covers wear and tear failures - their example being waterpump bearings failing. some my class that as wear and tear, but they dont.
I don't have the warranty and I dont work for them, just pointing it out as another company you may wish to consider

The LR extented is limited to 25k per annum.
Mine expires at 146k miles due to the fact I took it out for 2 years (50k miles in total).
The cost was about £530 from a LR dealer which includes MOT and LR assistance. I think this is the cost price. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE
