Land Rover Assistance - Renewal
Have just tried to renew my LRA cover, it having run out with my 3 year w'tee last week. I only wanted the LRA cover, not the extended w'tee as I have taken out Tesco cover.
Was told not possible since July 1st. Can only now take out the w'tee and LRA together as the supplier has moved from Mondial? to CarCare. They said only option without w'tee cover was standard AA. This means no dedicated LR tech in nice shiney D3 or LR courtesy vehicle. A scam to force the use of the rip-off full service I assume.
Any one else tried to take out LRA on it's own this month? Any thoughts? I shall be onto LR Customer Services tomorrow as that's crap and deteriation of service. Anyone got a name / contact in LRA?
Cheers, Richard.Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

Not a popular reply mine so look away now if offended..
BUT its up to them (LR I assume) what they offer - either buy it or don't.
I understand fully what you are saying but if they choose not to offer a product then complaining probably won't help. They are not obliged to offer you anything at all.
It just the same as other companies where they 'bundle' products or services together to maximise profit.
Sorry mate thats what I think. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

DJ,
Understand what you say but was always available before. A lot of people have LRA instead of AA as more specific cover but do not want £1200 worth of extended w'tee. LRA was twice AA price so still paying a generous premium for roadside cover...
New people, new rules but a backward service for loyal customers, so worth a call anyway! Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

I took out LRA on its own + Tesco warranty in March. I already have personal European and full UK RAC cover for my D1 [and any other vehicle I'm in] but wanted the extra peace of mind from LRA for the D3.
Interested in the outcome of this as it seems I won't get the chance to renew LRA next yearClubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. ReMap, BSS., RLD Personalised SWP., Safari Snorkel, Faultmate, Three Musketeers & MUD

The LRA guys have there shiny new disco 3 commercials, better eqippped as well,,don't panic they're still out there and so am told 100% same personnel who transferred over from Mondial,,alot of experience there .The AA from 1st July 2009 now have the Landrover/Jaguar assistance programme for 3 years UK & Europe. If you call the assistance line, they will point you in the right direction to renew 0800-521786. The Ex warranty IS covered by Car Care
These new disco's have an orange highways beacon on top now,red striping up the taildoor and not down the side as before,,,,,,,,and 2 colours silver and dark grey just to spice things up

xtc - take the approach about Brand Loyalty, you want to have LR support you and your family when about and about. If (when) your breakdown you want a LR trained expect to look after you and if necessary tow you to LR garage for repair! Be nice
Ultimately if they don't sell it you can't buy it though.SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

XTC,
I bought the package, but at the time I could have bough LRA on its own. Talking to the LRA man last month he said the new arrangement with the AA were, in order :
1) Send an LRA Disco and try to fix on the side of the road
2) If no LRA man available send a yellow van who will try (and fail) to fix
3) If no yellow van available send a numpty in a recovery truck and recover irrespective of problemDuncan

Thanks!
Have also mailed the AA to see what the score is and if it's possible to take cover out directly with them. Also what would be sent out with normal AA cover when responding to a LR call. Sure it will be no, no and no, but thought I may as well follow it all up while i'm on the case. Will also save everyone else going through the same routine... DJ I will be nice, as always!Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

I think you only get a Discovery replacement vehicle for 36 or 48 hours if you are out of warranty, after that you have to pay for it. As it is out of warranty they don't fit replacement parts I believe unless you pay normal price for them.
Might be worth checking as I think the cover is less than when your in warranty. I took it out and then cancelled it within 14 days as it just didn't sem worth it while I had free European Cover via my Black Card

I had to call out Landover Assist last week when my car would not go into gear. It was an AA patrol that arrived at the house. He arranged for an AA recovery truck to take the car to the nearest dealer.
He told me that all Landrover Assist is now being handled by the AA, they all work from the same call centre but have differant desks for Landrover, Jaguar, BMW. Audi etc etc.
