Rear Diff querey
Just got the girl up on a ramp for the first time and spotted this gunk squeezed out of the diff housing its an 08MY believe it or not, any ideas whats gone on. Or is it possible it came from the factory like this?
Any tips on the rust and how to stem the rot would be much appreciated![/img]

So Wiggs you mean you had the diff replaced or just the gasket, if it was the diff how much work had it done?
This car has only done 16k and I'm worried I have got a lemon! Or it looks to me like its been hammered off road in its short life time.
It was bought from a main dealer under the pretext of being a car used by Landrover Executives.......this one must have had his office on top of a bloody mountain!!

Rear diff lock is an optional extra that most don't have I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Most D3's are not coming with a rear diff lock as it has traction controll and that is really good but for a little better control while rockcrawling you could order the rear diff lock option.
Most LRE D3's have the rear diff lock. I say most as there might be a few without.
Most LRE cars are grey but again most there could be some other too.
Or your car was really from an executive who like to go off-road. But seeing the picture it looks like being used off-raod regulary. Did you find mud in hidden places?
As I still find a lot off mud msot is nowedays mine but still I find red colored mud that can't be from northen Europe.Roel

Thanks SJR, I will assume Roel that it doenn't have rear diff lock, would that have any bearing on the fact it looks like its been repaired or replaced at this mileage?

If you are in any doubt about the state of the car, and bearing in mind you still have plenty of warranty left....why not pay someone like TFC to give the vehicle a thorough going over to see what action (if any) you need to get your dealer/LR to make under warranty. I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.
