Dead Stereo

SWMBO picked up the D3 from the Qantas Valet parking tonight and the stereo won't turn on. It seems to be dead with nothing on the display, and no backlight.

I also noticed that the clock on the speedo display area is --:-- as well.

I doubt it was anything the Valet folk did but any hints on how to do CPR on the stereo?

(I have an MY08 SE so it's the single stack pov pack version!!)

Hi Dan,
I've had that a couple of times - especially after car washes.

Try the recommendation from a while ago - turn the beast off and wait until the parking light on the dash is out, then open the bonnet, disconnect the battery terminals and then touch the +ve and -ve leads together for a few seconds. Then put attach them back to the battery.

The dealer did this once, and I did this routine once. I have since replaced my CD-400 radio with a touch screen DVD player.

Good luck!
Cheers,
Rob

Worked a treat!

Thanks Rob.

By the way what brand/model DVD player did you replace the CD-400 with? Was it a clean install or did it require some cutting?

You're welcome! I installed a Sony XAV-W1 (http://www.sony.com.au/product/xav-w1) - which I bought from a friend at a very good price. No cutting of dash, or modifying standard wiring required - as long as you follow the guidance from this site.

Cheers,
Rob
