So, after an accident last night when I managed to nudge my lights back into the radiator, I'm considering doing the ARB winch bar replacement, instead of new LR bumper and nudge...
It makes a lot of sense - expecting/hoping to be doing more trips now; but aesthetically, I still liked my more original looking front-end...
Does anyone have any pics of an ARB bar on a dark coloured D3 - most of the pics I've found are on lighter coloured vehicles.
Oh - and is anyone running 32" tyres with the ARB bar????
D3 - Buckingham Blue, SE, TDV6, 06 model; chipped; underbody armour; Mickey Thompson ATZ 275/65-18 AND MAXXIS Bighorn muddies; rear wheel carrier from 4x4intelligence.com; iPOD aux connection! GME 3200 UHF - aerial mounted on wheel carrier ; LR roof rails/cross bars; Autosafe cargo barrier, Safari Snorkel; Traxide - aux battery; ARB bull bar with Tigerz11 winch; Lightforce 240 XGT driving lights (mitchell bros tow hitch to come)
Can't help with the dark colour. I had a similar, but bigger collision about 18 months ago. With a damaged bumper and holed radiator, it cost less to put on an ARB bar + winch than the cost of a replacement D3 bumper. So in essence, I got the winch for free. If your radiator is being replaced, I also suggest you have all the hoses replaced and keep the old ones (makes up my spare set for long trips). One thing I forgot was to take a bunch of pictures of the front end when dismantled. It sure would be helpful to see how everything was put together and what's hidden on the front of the engine.Jim Dowell - D4 HSE TDi, 12,000 hydraulic winch & hidden winch mount, MTRs, TyreDog, Traxide 2 x aux battery system, fixed air compressor, Dolium roof rack, MitchHitch.

Steering wheel on the wrong side because the pic was taken via a mirror.
Re the ARB bar, it weights 55kg but you take off about 15kg to put it on so net weight +40kg, and it comes with bashplates so deduct that weight too if you're running them already, plus your nudgie. I suspect your total +weight will be in the order of around 25-30kg.
Personally for your card I'd colour-code it. For lighter cars with black wheelarches I think it looks better left black.--

As said it comes with bash plates too. It will protect the vehicle if you hit a roo unlike the LR one.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

There'd be a mirror inside the camera.--

That's a clever camera. It managed to get the ARB label the right way round. The Bearded Dragon

RMP,
the ARB steel bar weighs only 55Kg? I though they were close to 100Kg! It's not an aluminium one is it (although the pic looks like a steel bar)?
Is the TJM steel bar of similar weight?

The ARB bar is steel. ARB don't believe in anything other than steel for bullbars. Yes it weighs 55kg. As a comparison, a 200 Series alloy bar weighs 40kg. The 100kg figure would need a winch (+40kg) and other accessories like lights. In other words, adding an ARB bar won't collapse the front suspension.--

Special character recognition, a bit like face recognition. But it can't deal with steering wheels. And look closely the trees are back to front too, as is the tyre tread.--

Luv the way it dealt with the Land Rover on the bonnet as well
mind you it left the air intake on the correct side
Simon,
Sorry to hear about the accident........but I hope it wasn't caused by some strange fellow flagging you down from a taxi earlier this week!!! .....now that wouldn't happen to you if you drove a plain old Prado!!
