Should be, it's a known, but not common issue. Mine was done under extended warrenty, although they did need to send an engineer to inspect mine 1st

Mine was showing signs of oil, (when pulled apart and dabbed with kitche towel came away black) so got it recovered by LRA who took it to dealer who took a week to fix it, Confused waiting for parts.
Since its been back it dosent seem much better, so checked it again last night.........yep its still showing the same oil. Twisted Evil
Now wondering if the dealer actually changed all the bits required or just did some?

its back in for more warranty work next week, think they better have another look...

Matt, I canny quote on the Gods at Yeovil, mine was dealt with as mentioned above, and dont understand why mine was, and yours is'nt. Whats your mileage, mine failed at 32k, so that could be the reason under premature failure.....................................Like I said they came and inspected my D3 and OK'd the work, no bill for me, UNLESS Big Cry my vac pump was'nt done and I took their word for it...............................Brakes are much better now though

Worth talking with LRCC Matt. With the high incidence of failures of these parts they're going to struggle to argue that it's not a known issue that they ought to make a contribution towards.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

D3 done 100,000 now which is why it came with the select extended warranty I suppose , seems mad that LR doesnt cover the vac pump but they will change the servo cos it has got contaminated by it !

It was me not reading your post properly. There does seem to be a difference in Select and Extended Warrentys. I have just taken out tesco's finest, and its covered there too.

Check the pages I included, maybe worth looking at, and Yeovil do Tesco work

United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

Well after MelanieH complaining the brakes would fade on her, we got it checked by her friendly mechanic and it seems we have the same problem.

She phoned the dealer and they told her not to drive it, but to call LRA. They arrived and took it away on a low loader! Enterprise dropped off a really nice 08 plate HSE.

Let's see how quickly we get it back. Glad it's still inside warranty!!

This issue does annoy me. It should be a re-call, Twisted Evil what will it take someone being killed or injured when the seals go. Rolling Eyes
Why they are not paying for the fix even out warranty is beyond me.

Agree fully Caver, it's a known problem and should be checked occasionally by the owner, and by the servicing dealer. It is dangerous, the pedal goes hard and then there's nowt, extremely dangerous and someone WILL get hurt or killed through this issue

Sent my letter off the LR today! Evil or Very Mad Hopefully something will come of all this, but I'm not holding my breath.

Just about had enough now! I've spent $5,500 on this car in the last month just keeping it on the road! Brake systems etc shouldn't fail on a 3.5yo 150000km car.
