United States 2005 LR3 4.4 V8 SE Auto Bonatti GreyLR3

so will the US get the diesel finally? If so I might have to figure out how to swing one. I'm not really a big fan ot the tail lights (to rice/lexus) or the interior (to carish). I do like the front end, the dash and the steering wheel. Not really sure on the color coded arches. I quite like the two tone.....

I certainly won't be chopping the FFRR for a D4........ Neutral

Looks like a chunky Freelander at the front which I genuinely don't like. Still looks like a D3 from the side despite the stereo vents. Rear is like a Saxo kid has been playing with an LED light kit and inside has got me a bit confused. Yes, it looks nice(ish) but there seems to be a bit of 'lets make the D3 more blingy' going on. I wonder who will be the first to put one into a wall because they have been too busy trying to find the right button function on the steering wheel. Rolling Eyes

Too many buttons and gismos there and it seems to have lost its utilitarian perspective. Whoever decided it was time for (fake?)'wood' facings needs their head examined. It's like someone took a few bits from the FFRR (TR knob, Hi/Lo buttons and metal EPB lever, nicer seats and a more involving central screen) and tried to stick them into a D3 cabin........ badly!

I'm sure it will be nice, but I'm still not sure overall.

Apparently there's a new FFRR as well........ Which looks just like the one on my drive Rolling Eyes

If I had a choice of my old Cairns (with TurboChip) or this 'new' D4, I wouldn't be rushing to the dealer, for all the same reasons that I chose to have an SE rather than an HSE. Just the same car with extra toys that you don't need and are more likely to fail.

For those with standard (unchipped) D3's, I'll bet the new engine is a nice eye-opener though........ Might be a bit like getting the TDV8....... but not quite! Mr. Green

I like the look of it but have a couple of concerns.

With all the new toys and interior styling do you think it will be a lot more expensive.

And do you think it will cause us to lose money on our D3's as I suppose a lot of people will be looking to trade them in for the old model.

Did this happen with the D2's when the new D3 model came along
I have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!

Mmm...not sure about it. The outside looks like a b'stard love child of a D3/RRS who then went out shopping for baby clothes at the Fast and Furious section of Halfrauds.

The interior on the otherhand....Oh yes!! me like, me like a lot. Thumbs Up

Did I read 360 mm dia ventilated front discs and 350 mm dia ALUMINIUM rear discs?

So for those that splash out, I guess they will have to get used to quick wearing rear discs only.

And a question for those lucky enough to work in close proximity to the pre-production examples, where are the five cameras mounted to give the near 360 degree view?

So many questions, and so long to wait here in Australia...

The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

Can't believe in 8 pages no one hates what I hate.

Frigg'n push button start. I HATE push button start and I loathe keyless entry.

I do NOT want to have to get into the car to start it. 40 degree day, yuk.

what is wrong with a key?

borrowed a car with keyless entry, and push button start. Put key in my pocket. Handed the car back, owner took off, half an hour later "where's the key"?

In my pocket wasn't it. Embarassed Evil or Very Mad

Wonder if the fairy lights (similar to the new audi's) in the head light unit will be standard as they are an option when buying the audi i think. But quite like the look of the D4!
As i currently drive a commercial D3, wonder if they going to bring out the D4 in commercial!! Laughing

Reading that you can have the GS with the 2.7 I'm guessing the Commercial D4 will have the same 2.7 in as oppose to the 3.0 oh well theres nothing wrong with the D3 2.7 that a remap cant sort Whistle

I'd be interested to see some pictures of a lower-spec Discovery 4. There's a lot of stuff being touted that will never make it into the 'run of the mill' cars.

Overall I like it....a bit too fussy and aimed at a different market to what the D3 was in when I bought mine, but all in all, I'm not disappointed at all.....looks like a very sensible and well thought out new version Thumbs Up
