United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

While we on the topic of dipping mirrors (well almost!), I have just had the electronics replaced under warranty, as they dipped and sometimes never came back when you drove off. So if you noticed you before you set off, you put it back into reverse, then 1st, and this often this put them back to normal. If you did not notice you only could see your rear tyres!!
The trick was to hit the memory button on the seat and this brought the mirrors back, if you try tried to adj them up, they then later moved to point to the sky when you next went through reverse!!

This got me thinking and I had a look at http://www.landrover.com/global/default.htm to see the list prices in different countries.

Doing a comparison between the UK and USA:

In the UK the £36,995 for an SE increases to £39,010 if metallic paint and auto gearbox are added and if the engine is a petrol 4.4 V8 then it grows to £43,515 (although I doubt there are many petrol Disco 3s sold in the UK).

In the USA price for similar spec SE with 7 seats is $50,600 (or £28914 assuming 1.75 $ to the £) sales tax usually has to be added (some states have no sales tax). In addition and they also get the Adaptive Xenon Headlamps (£995 UK option) and Alpine Roof (£1050 UK option) included.

I believe I have got the above figures right. However, it would seem that what you would pay £45560 for in the UK you could get for £28914 in the USA.

Really, comparing direct pricing between regions is fairly pointless. The USD is weak and, in reality, the LR3/Disco 3 can't be priced any higher in this market. It's already about $3K-$5K USD too expensive based on the closest competitors here.

I've enabled the dipping-reverse-mirror option on my SE several times in the five months I've had mine, found it most unhelpful almot dis-orientating to be honest! and why does is take the ECU 2-3 seconds to turn on the PDC when you put it in reverse?!
 and theeeeennn......???

Does the 2006 S have dipping mirrors aswell? The option is there in the settings but it does not make it clear on the LR website either way.

Thanks

I have had problems with the dipping mirrors. There seems to be 3 different memorys, and its easy to get them confused. There is the seat memory, then there is the lazy entry memory, and there is the reverse mirror dip.

If you run through each set-up procedure as per the manual, separately, it seems to be ok.

I don't know what upsets it, but I have a suspision it is when the wife uses her key, and the lazy entry settings take over.

Just need a couple of hours to sit in the car and play with the optons.
