sorry to hear you have lost the Permagrin Steve
My next car will be a D3 (if I can afford to buy a HSE) but I wont be taking it offroad. Ill use use the one i have for that. I had a Merc E320 Estate before the D3 and although it is a good car, IMO its no where near as good as the D3. Re servicing and reliability, I found the Merc less reliable and more costly to service.Duncan

share losses can be offset against capital gains, d3 losses cant !
Pom
Now there's a thought. What say we set up a company that owns 10 D3s, sell the shares in the company to 10 shareholders who lease the vehicles (on the open but not so well advertised market) from said company at £1 per month.
Then as the company shares lose value we can all claim against other capital gains - assuming any of us are still worth something in a few years time as money gets printed á la Argentina and houses are being sold for ten a penny._____________

Re: D3 depreciation
Have a look at your finance agreement, if you have paid a certain amount (stated on the agreement you took out) then you have the right to hand the car back with no penalties. This won't affect your credit rating although your current finance company may not give you a loan in the future this won't show up on your credit rating. This is a great way of killing any negative equity you may have in your car - Say you have been offered 18k but you owe 21k to settle the finance, if you have been paying approx half the agreement time then just call the finance company and arrange for them to come and collect it. This is the same for both HP and PCP deals. No more negative equity and you can just put a deposit down on another car - easy it's all to do with the consumer credit act 1974. Look at the bit of the contract that say's "termination:your rights"
Aw crap, I was meant to be checking the finance agreement for DiscoCuzzy. Good reminder to pull my finger out.... I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
DiscoCuzzy, I've checked based on the info you gave me and you're f ed
Will still go over the docs to see what other delights are in store for you though. Just not this week I'm afraid. Another 60 hour week beckons I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
