Was following a D3 today (no forum sticker !) but had a full size spare .......
He did not have a RLD protector and I could easily tell due to the fact that the spare was mounted spoke side down so the cable end was hanging down 3 inches below the wheel
only a matter of time Cheers Ian

Had my spare wheel nicked at Ebbsfleet, so much for secure car parks!
Anyone had the spare wheel nicked with new winch (plastic protector fitted)?

doh, just home from work, wife about to head out with the kids. I walked out behind to put kids in with her and noticed the rear passenger wheels nuts all loose.
Had a moment thinking when I had the wheels off last week maybe I didn't tighten them up, but unlikely as I remember torquing them all.
Few moments head scratching, obviously re torqued the nuts and checked the rest, all ok. About to send wifey en route and thought. Spare wheel..... Oh fudge yep Gone.... Driveway at home is CCTV covered so ok ill buzz back through that and look. Nothing, then wifey remembers while at college on Monday there might have been a strange crowd in the car park when she left.
Typical really I could make a wheel cover myself but just haven't got round to it.
Where is best to get a replacement winch? And wheel ?
I got one and fitted it yesterday. Very happy. Thanks Ray!

I keep thinking I should invest in one of Uncle Rays spare protectors myself, having already had my tow bar pinched by some low-life from right outside my house, I'm getting a bit paranoid.
My only concern though is the additional weight of the device added to the 19" HSE wheel, I'd like to ask -
1, How difficult/awkward do people find manoeuvring it all into place?
2, What are the implications for the additional load on the winch?Clive

Spare Wheel Protector
I found the few minutes to fit Uncle Rae's wheel protector at the weekend between Commonwealth Games events. Easy to fit and secure. Nicely designed and manufactured piece of kit.
Fitting the wheel protector did allow me to see how rusty the guide for the winch cable guide was. A job for another weekend.
