On the verge of a purchase of an HSE and want to know if any of you have had dealings with Herts Landrover dealers. Want to get the best deal and have the offer of a brand new pre-reg for 40K. Deal or no deal. Need the rear aircon for the nippers and very much like the glass roof thingummy.

I am dealing with Stratstone Aylesbury at the moment. Hoping to get one or two local dealers battling for my money so that I can get the best deal. Saw that a couple of people got one for 38.5K which is a hell of a deal - I would be V happy with that.

tommyknocker - you have pm
I also tried Chipperfield LR to see if they could match the Statstone price but they wouldn't shift from list !
Too small and independant to match Stratstone's volume I guess but those factors might make them good for service.

I guess it might depend on how quickly you want to move, how flexible you are on spec and the distance you'll travel to collect; there's bound to be a couple of dealers who've got one to register and sell prior to the 1st March - start emailing/ringing. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Just bought a HSE for collection on March 1st and was unable to get any deal close to 38.5k but did get a good deal from T H White in Swindon. I am happy and they gave me a much better part exchange price on my current motor. I guess i ended up paying somewhere in the region of 41k which included a fair number of options too ... side steps, body mouldings etc. I put together a one page document detailing what I wanted and what I had to Part ex and faxed it over to a number of dealers then waited for the response.
Good Luck I don't dance but I do Disco

I am not pressurised on time and don't need to switch until April. I got the impression that Chipperfield were too small to get a good enough deal. My father in law refuses to deal with them and he is usually pretty shrewd. I have Pilling Welwyn on the case as well as Stratstone. I might try a couple of others just to add a bit more competition.
Thanks for the feedback - I'll keep you updated.

I was not too impressed with Chipperfield, ok we had a car for a couple of hours but I wanted it for a day and they took an age to get me to talk to their finance guy. Similar story for Webbers in Basingstoke.
Perhaps this is the mentality of the smaller dealers, as we went to Stratstone at Luton at the weekend and wow what a different experience. We are discussing getting a test driver for a day (not that I need it to make up my mind - but it will be nice as I am in no rush to purchase) but the whole expericne was more pleasurable with no pushy sales guy, they also had the largest stock of D3's I have seen. Lots of choice.
I have also heard good things about Stratstones in Aylesbury, so will be interesting to see the difference when we start talking money. Stornoway HSE MY07 with Body Colour side mouldings.

One thing that has cropped up on the forum around servicing costs is that Stratstone appear to be much more expensive than many other dealers.
try Shukers in Ludlow. They also have a showroom in Shrewsbury... good dealer and I have had no issues with them. Once on the case they will keep niggling LR to get a solution.
Their servicing costs seem to be very low too and always quote off the LR system they use in reception - not make up their own levels of service like some do to increase margin.
LR people too not car salesman.

Starting to get a little warmer. Currently have an offer on a MY06, Silver with ebony interior, privacy glass and sidesteps with about 1,200 miles on the clock for 38.5K before trade in. Not my first choice in colour and interior but beggars can't be choosers. Taking it for a spin on Saturday. Roll on the rest of the week.

Hi,
Sorry for hijacking your thread but I'm in the market for a D3 HSE and have a top whack of £30k. Is there any realistic chance of getting one for that sort of moolar?
I'm not bothered too much about mileage or exterior colour, but I would like one with an alpaca interior as the ebony just looks too dark.
What do you reckon?
BTW - I've got a 2005/54 VW Golf GTI to p/x.
Thanks,
NZ. Always forgive those who p*ss you off, but never forget their names......

Is 30K including your trade in value? The lowest price I have seen for an HSE is around 34K for a 54 Reg car. If you can afford to wait a year I have no doubt that you will easily be able to get a car for that price. Most 2005 HSE's are between 36 and 39K right now.

Just been in the same situation. The cheapest I found was an 05 ot £32,000. I had to get a Volvo for the time being. Loving the power of the TDV8!
