Lightforce 170's fitted to standard LR bumper mounts
Finally got around to engineering a solution to fit the 170 Lightforce lamps to the standard bumper mounts. My original LR spots were past their best.
Here is the result.

I am really pleased with the result, the LR mountings completely hide the somewhat untidy LF mounting. I took lots of photos of the modifications to the LR bases, so will post a 'How To' tomorrow.
Dremels at the ready ..........................

Nice one Gareth. Very tidy job. All opinions expressed in this posting are my own and are not necessarily those of someone who knows what they are talking about.

How to do it.
You will need a Dremel or similar to grind the plastic in the original mounts. The Dremel tended to melt the plastic rather than grind it, you really should wear some goggles as it does fly around a fair bit.
First, remove some material from the base of the spotlamp mount. This needs to have sufficient material removed to allow the spotlamp base to sit flush and square in the mount, with the bolt hole lined up.

You will need to modify the spotlamp base to allow a 17mm socket to fit into the base to secure the mount to the bumper.

You will need to make a cutout in the shroud to allow the post of the spotlamp to fit.

The assembly should now fit together like this

Remove a small amount od material to allow the cross bolt to fit.
Fit the base with the Lightforce mount, and the shroud to the vehicle

Remove the front part of the shroud from the old Land Rover spotlamps. You will need to remove some material from the back edge to fit around the Lightforce mounting. You will also need to remove a considerable amount of plastic from the inside to allow it to fit snugly.

I cut the wires off the old spotlamps, drilled an 8mm hole in the side of the shroud, passed the cable through, and soldered them to the connections on the Lightforce units. This soldered joint is easy to conceal inside the shroud. You can then use the standard plug on the other end to connect to the Land Rover spotlamp loom.
It took me about 2 hours to do both lights. The result is very neat. I was concerned that the Lightforces would look ungainly on the D3, but they look very neat, and they are far brighter than the originals.

Very neat job G I may go down this route. Do you have to dismantle the mounts to get the grill out??21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

To remove the grill would require the mounts and lamps to be diismantled.
The Lightforce lamp simply unscrews form the mount, it looks like this with the lamp bit removed.

You would need to remove the 2 screws that hold the forward shroud to the base, tilt the lamp mount forward, then remove the 17mm bolt to lift the assembly away.
