Oh yeah - I didn't mean they were grey nomads in the car, I meant the ones who sent IanR the e-mail. Ye olde Nomads think the Nigerian Heir-to-a-fortune is their friend because he sent an e-mail to their e-mail address.
Have a look in my gallery and in the Goog's Track photos you may see a photo of a thoroughly decent bloke who may just happen to drive a Prado and was a head honcho with the ATO. No grey nomad and a bloke who put away many a scammer!!! No wonder I don't make many posts!!
Also not many grey nomads in the following photo. Unless they happen to drive Utes or Vans.

If the car wireing did not run next to flamable plastic etc
the cable itself is wrapped in oil based flamable plastic, best you remove all of your house wiring, wood paint etc and live in a mud hut

Irrespective of what caused the Disco fire, the fact that there is one burning at the side of road in full view of the public, does the Disco image no good!'06 Disco 3 TDV6 SE Buckingham Blue

CW,
Fire in mine started on drivers side in engine bay, looks like either hp fuel pump or fuel line droped diesel on to turbo, The steeler had all this apart to replace EGR's, suspect they did not put it back properly, but this faulty work by the steeler is just a suspession, once fire started it spread quickly catching all the plastic which burns fearsly, fire burnt radiator hose's which when it let the coolent go helped slow the fire. Never the less it quickly spread underneath consuming all plastic, the fuel tank was distorted but with fire extinguishers prevented it letting go.
Only thing underneath that escaped was the compressor. Fire did not get into the cabin but smpke damage was extencive. So in short to answer your question cause either faulty hp fuel pump or careless work by steeler.
Cheers
Rob

Not sure what or wether age has to do with being a grey nomad, just leave the grey off.
I am sure lots of us would love to take a year or two off to travel Oz and if that makes us a grey or not so grey nomad, so be it. I would like to do it but not with a big van, need to be able to go places out of the way.
Cheers

Rob, looks like you really hit the bottom of the barrel with that dealer. As far as I can see there is no need to do anything to the fuel lines to get to the EGR valves. Plus, the turbo is on the LH side of the engine so their story about that doesn't quite gel either.
Bushwanderer, When I get really really really old, I'd like to go touring around like you! Have a nice day!

This makes me think... I have a fire extinguisher, but if the fire starts in the engine bay how the hell do you get at it? I have enough trouble finding and unlatching the hood release when the car is NOT on fire...
