I did put it in for a diagnosis as nothing on dash they came back with fuel system fault and EGRs but I was sceptical as I was the one that suggested EGR's.
I ordered EGR blanks today so will post result once complete. Beats the 790euro the dealer wanted to swap 2.
Can the fuel filter be done without a ramp?
thanks

A e!! Looks like I'm set to join the "Club EGR valve replacement" - got the MIL up and wifey took to dealer - ready to go in on Friday (all under warranty).
Only 31k on clock - but still, I guess better to get them sorted before the warranty expires next year!?
Any cases of re-occurence - or is it a case of once you've had em changed you're in the clear?? (He asked in the faint hope that he gets the answers he wants.....)
cheers, Tim2007 TDV6SE Auto Stornoway Grey - now sold...
More than just me have had two sets. First D3 MY07 had 2 sets in 51k miles"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

10forcash has diagnosed one of my egr valves is stuck open. You'll definately know when they go becuase the performance and mpg is awful.
I'll just replace the one but I wonder how long before the other one goes, assuming they are the same age. There seems to be quite a few owners who are having them replaced in pairs.

I had first one, then a few months later the other one fail. Blanked both off straight after the 2nd one went, that was 30k miles ago.

I will be blanking mine as soon as I purchase some torx bits
Anyway my power loss is intermittent as is less prone to occur if I leave the fuel system to prime fully before starting cant explain it. Hopefully this will resolve it.
Question:
In the procedure to blank EGR's it calls to remove the spindle from the inlet butterfly valve, WHY?
Wild Rover, you've checked you don't have a split turbo hose? Fuel aside, what you're describing sounds awfully like a hose failure to me?I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
Question:
In the procedure to blank EGR's it calls to remove the spindle from the inlet butterfly valve, WHY?
Cheers
Matt
You need to remove the spindle to be able to slide the butterfly valve off it. The spindle is the refitted. Alternatively you can disconnect the spindle and valve from the actuator, and fix the butterfly in the open position.Previously:

My thinking is that if the egr's are blanked off, even if the egr valve get's stuck open you wouldn't notice it performance or mpg wise because there would be no open route for the exhaust gases into the inlet. There would be a small amount of disturbance to the exhaust gas flow though.
Is my thinking correct?
No disturbance to the exhaust flow with EGRs blanked Previously:

If that is the case then you could have 2 failed egr valves and never know because they are blanked.
That right? Has anyone experienced this?

If you have both EGRs blanked, and they both fail, you will never know about it. And saved yourself 5-600 quid in the process My D3 Build Thread
