just wanted to say am gutted for you and the experience, but thankful that you posted as I was looking at a d3 in tw+tstones but will now steer well clear after reading this.
i used to work in retail selling tech mountain, ski, snowboard equipment and from memory you are perfectly entitled to return the product if you are not happy with it, to be honest, the law backs the customer more than the retailer so hold your guns and throw it back at them.. i've seen the most ludicrous returns go through that really shouldn't but because of the way the law is written customers can pretty much get away with blue murder,
so grit your teeth, stay polite and calm (really winds them up),do'nt what ever you do loose your temper and at the end of it if still not getting anywhere say you're off to call your legal department who specialise in this sort of thing,,, they WILL back down..
good luck and thanks again for the warning...

Mrs Chapman has gave me her mobile number and due to the hassle she has received from the group she is prepared to put in writing that the damage was on the car. she must be really miffed with them.
I am gutted to say the least as the car is like a brand new one everywhere else.
I have dealt with land rover customer service who fobbed me off with my td5 back to the dealer and the dealer principal is aware of the damaged arch. for the sake of £100 for a new one i would have imagined him to just cover the cost and give me one but he too fobbed me off.
As for the suspension failing and the warning lights shown this has concerned me and put me off keeping the car.
will keep you posted on Monday.
As a new member thanks to all of you for your kind remarks and replys

good luck, reject it and then purchase another D3 from a better LR dealer.1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold
1999 Discovery 2 TD5 ES Rioja Red, sold
2002 Discovery 2 TD5 ES Buckingham Blue, sold
2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Adriatic Blue, sold
2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver, sold
2011 Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE Nara Bronze, sold
2016 Volvo XC60 D5 AWD Lux Nav Twilight Bronze, sold
2020 Range Rover Evoque P250 First Edition, Nolita grey, sold
2023 Range Rover Evoque P300e Autobiography, Carpathian grey
As already said, you have the right to within 1000 miles etc reject / return the car, and that is exactly what I would do.
There is also a good tip here - and one I have been subject to.
Look at the logbook and call the previous owner - ask them why they sold it and for how much - if they don't mind telling you. Happened to me with an old mini - told the guy he may want to "do a few gear changes". Dealer wasn't too helpful when I took my newer one in for it's first service a few weeks later
Keep us posted, hope all goes to plan "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Did you find out how much they paid the Chapmans for it? That could be interesting as you lost so much on your TD5.
It's a great tip and one I hadn't thought of before. Mind you, I have only bought new for the last 9 yesrs, but next time will look for a low mileage fairly new one (and of course contact the previous owner first!)
TBH, if they couldn't fix it in the 6 months or so the previous owners had it, what chance do you stand....
Personally I'd be inclined to reject it now that you know the fault history (this is all their fault for not paying £100 to get the arch fixed!) and perhaps you'll end up back in the FL2 you've had for most of last year Or maybe you'll just get a refund (yes you can still get a refund) and find a decent dealer elsewhere. Just hope you stay with the D3 marque Bodsys Brake Bible

What a disgrace!
and from a MAIN LR dealership!!
I hope LR Head Office MD and CEO are looking at this and carry out an investigation... this is nothing short of Cowboy car dealer con tricks that would be expected from a small secondhand Del Boy type BUT NOT A MAIN DEALER for a Luxury and high end Make....
I for one will REMEBER this thread next time I think of changing cars and WILL boycott Stratastone!!!all branches!
I must have been lucky with the kent dealer I used over the last 8 years for 3 LRs...(altho next service being done by Nicks lot at Yeovil!....

Bodsy i will stick with the disco 3 if possible and this is just the excuse i need to presude the Mrs to splash more cash and get an HSE. lol
I have contacted another LR Dealer today and spoke to sales and ran the problem by them. after asking they said the car books at 13,600 but would be bidding somewhere in the region of 10 Grand to buy it in.
As for the question regarding how much they paid the Chapmans. they bought it in July 08 for 19k and it was bought back off them in Dec 08 for full refund. so they wont be happy to have it back again tomorrow.

I think - keeping a level head on the progress - The D3 you've got is not a dog it just needs a couple of things putting right. If you look at the other Stratsone thread you will see all the problems I had with mine, a massive list, and I mean massive almost £3000 worth of parts and work, but after getting in touch they agreed to carry out the work at no expense to me and lent me a new FL2 whilst it was all being done. I ageed that all the items on my car and yours should have been done prior to delivery but they just wern't for whatever reason. Stratsone seem to be running a car supermarket style forcourt now pile them high sell them cheap at very small margins. I can however confirm that after having all my work completed we have covered another 8000 miles trouble free and the car is perfect. Rather than loose more on the sale of the D3 I would still recomend that you just get them to put it right for you and then enjoy the car as you had hoped to do in the first place.

Just been read this thread and I feel for you Andy.
Whilst I cannot offer any more advice on what has been given so far I can tell you that S s in Durham are no better when it comes to new car sales. Mine had thin paint on the door which I didn't notice until I read about the problem on this forum. I took it back and was just fobbed off all over.
I now will not use Durham for anything. All my servicing and repairs are done by Team Valley Land Rover where you get great service and are treated with respect.
And when it comes to changing my car later this year I will be heading to Lakeland or Yeovil. It will be worth traveling miles just not to use S s
