I've only had my Discovery for ten days so I'm still finding things out but can anyone tell me if it's normal to have a tiny bit of pumping up in the brake pedal?
I haven't got any fluid leaks and it is only barely a tiny bit firmer on the second push. Cambridge Blue TDV6 S Manual

There have been a couple at my dealers with contaminated master cylinders. Effects the vacuum assist. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Thanks for the replies and apologies for the delay in replying.
Yes Matt im doing this with the engine on.
I don't know much about desiels but in a petrol without a turbo the servo relies on the inlet vacuum how does this work if, in the case a turbo diesel, there is no inlet vacuum Cambridge Blue TDV6 S Manual

Why do you think that the brakes need pumping? The Bearded Dragon

I'm not saying the brakes need pumping I was saying that a second push on the pedal made it seem a bit firmer like there is a bit of air in the circuit. Cambridge Blue TDV6 S Manual

Never noticed - I'll try a bit of pumping when Doris with the car gets back and report.

I had mine in for servce and EPB adjustment two weeks ago. Since then, I have had to pump the brake pedal a couple of times to get a "normal" brake feel. Spongy is the term I believe. It's going back to the dealers next Tuesday for a looksee. They reckon that the master cylinder is on the way out. (21000 miles!). Our cousins in Oz seem to be suffering the same problem.

Funny it comes on post-service though! The EPB forms no part of the hydraulic brake circuit so can't contribute to a poor pedal feel
Did they change the brake fluid? Maybe not bled it fully/properly??? Cheers

My dealer said on QT they have had a few. contamination of the vacuum caused by an issue with the seals. They have informed LR via sq whatever.
Expecta recall on this one to fix (safety issue) “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I went through some questions re: how theyserviced the EPB and they said the same as you Simon. It couldn't affect the hydraulics. The Service Dept came up with the possible failure of the master cylinder so I'm none the wiser. It's just a little disconcerting when approaching a junction and the brakes don't start to engage until the pedal is more than halfway to the floor. Two quick pumps resolved the situation. I've parked up now until it gets fixed.
Just coincidental with the EPB probs I guess.
