Front Parking Sensors - Retrofit |
|
Can front parking sensors be fitted to an MY07 XS?
The salesman said yes, the service department isn't sure! Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

I had the rear one factory fitted.
The dealer fitted the front one (via a next door subcontractor). It was part of the deal.
It is possible Arno

Damn...and I thought for a minute you were going to tell us how to do it too...
I am very interested in doing this....I know you can buy aftermarket kits (I think Valeo make some good ones), but I'd be very interested in retro-fitting some proper LR ones TBH...
Does anyone have any idea how to do it? (I can drill the holes, but I'm not too sure about the electrics)

I think the salesman quoted me £395, but that could of been for privacy glass.....he threw a lot of numbers at me that day. The service department looked in an accesories book and said if it wasn't in there then they couldn't do it! Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

Not wanting to step on anyone's toes, but I really would love to know what bits are needed to retro-fit front pdc on a D3 with rear PDC fitted from the factory....
I realise that TFC makes a living doing this , so I wouldn't expect him to divulge all the details publicly, but if anyone can help out us amateurs, it would be appreciated.
I'm guessing that I'd need the following:
4 x pdc sensors
1 x wiring loom (plugs in behind RHS headlamp?)
1 x beeper thingy?
The bit that worries me is if it needs enabling via an Autologic tool (I understand that the front sensors are speed-dependant).
Can anybody else shed any light on what else needs doing? I'm sure that this could be a very popular mod.

Now, for those of us in sunny Aus - not sure 10forcash can help us, but I would love to get it done. Any ideas anyone? Dealer says no way. I will print out this thread and thrust it under their nose, but doubt it will help me though <*(((<<

I phoned up Nick at Yeovil, to see if I could buy the kit from Land Rover.
You can BUT each part is separate, and they are very expensive, they can sell you after market kits which they fit.
I bought a after market kit and fitted them myself, which is easy, there is no problems with the wiring either. Land Rover Dicovery 3. 5 Seats.

Clive : Does the aftermarket kit integrate with the existing LR wiring loom etc or did you need to fit beepers inside and run wires all over the place? PaulP says there is a plug for them behind a headlight, did it plug in here? Does it have to be enabled in the LR software? Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

Parts are around £150 + vat dependent upon spec, not what i'd call very expensive..... especially as it integrates with the rest of the vehicle

For those of us not in a position to be able to pop around to TFC's house and get him to install our front PDC sensors whilst we drip-feed him with bottles of cold beer, is there anyone (maybe even Ten himself) that can help us out with this?
1. Exactly what parts/modules are needed?
2. Is it necessary to activate anything via IDS/Autologic or is it a simple install-and-go?
