Just a quick security question about windows

Hi Folks,

Just a quick thing. I stopped a few doors up to speak to someone I know and drove on down to my house with the drivers window down.

Got out the car and forgot to put it up before I removed the key from the ignition.

I locked the car hoping that the window might automaticaly close as a security feature, or that the alarm might beep to tell me the window was down.

But nothing, is this normal? Or would it have done something if I had left it a minute or two?

Thanks in advance Wink

Nope, that's what it does. It sits there and looks at you, safe inside the door cavity.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

To be fair, the Ford Scorpio had this back in 1994 (although it didn't work and was deleted from the range within days of launch..... a bit like the FBH functionality Whistle )

The motor can't baby sit your actions all day long ...you might want to leave the windows open ..and lock the doors Confused However if you do leave the window down and set the alarm.... anyone reaching in would activate the ultrasonic sensors and thereby the alarm would sound Wink

Hmm Oh well just checking. Would be nice to have something like that for idiots like me who might leave the window down. Or at least something on the remote to put em up to save having to access the motor again and put the key in the ignition.

Jeez I sound really lazy don't I Very Happy

I don't wholly disagree as a convenience TBH ...my wife had an ST170 ..and if you held down the lock button on the key fob for more than 4 seconds...all the windows would go up ...or down Wink That would be cool on the D3 ...but doesn't help if you've just forgotten

Yep many moons ago I had .........dare I say it.......... a Ford Mondeo Big Cry (had no choice it was a company car) and that used to put the windows up if you held down the remote button.

Would be a cool thing to have on me disco Smile

The Freelander 1 used to pip the horn if you tried to lock it with the window down. The doors still locked but it let you know that it wasn't secure.

The Disco dosen't do this as I also found out when I left the drivers window fully down all night in a rain storm. It took 3 days to dry out the drivers seat.

With the number of annoying things the car does bong for I cannot understand why Landrover haven't kept this useful one.

and me, an ST220. All 4 windows were 1-shot lower and raise plus all windows could be closed or opened using the key fob. you could also programme the key fob to close all windows when the car was locked. a very handy feature.

I now own a car almost twice as much with none of these features... must be progress Thumbs Up
